Dumped V11 and back to V10
Sorry to say but after multiple crashes I dumped V11 and returned to V10. V11 was much faster on a Quad but it crashed so many times that I would rather work slower than having to put up with the pain. I hope that someone from Ulead will fix whatever the problem is with V11.

Asus P5w DH Deluxe, 4Gb memory 1TB raid Quad Q6600 512Mb Video Card WinXP SP2 latest DirectX 9.0C (June). I was fine with V10, bought V11 which indeed was faster and better managed transitions. Crashed too many times no matter what I was doing wether was slide show, render to mpeg DVD or avi, create DVD, using mpeg using DV using jpeg using tiff. Same projects, same files are fine in V10 only slower to render. It is too bad!

Did that about 5 times so far. Removed ALL uled folders from Program Files and user directories (administrator, etc) Result: crash after crash. Surprisingly same project run in V10 = NO CRASH!. Is that a V11 problem or what? Again, I need the speed of V11 and the enhancements but not the aggravation and pain and moreover the loss of time = loss of business that V11 brought me so far!

You need to do the 'Clean Re-installation' procedure
Launch Windows Explorer and go to "Tools > Folder Options > View" to check "show hidden files and folders";
Purge/delete all the files in these folders: "C:\Windows\Temp" "C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp" (for WinXP);
It is safe to delete all contents of these folders. However, leave any files you can?t delete for now;
Delete these folders/directories: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems" "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11.0" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SmartSound Software Inc" (for full versions);
Go to "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information";
Delete the folder "{E188D820-1218-4E28-8BCA-91134C3664C2}";
Go to Start-->Run;
Type "regedit" then "OK";
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Uninstall;
Locate and delete the identity enclosed in curly brackets that corresponds to Ulead VideoStudio 11: "{E188D820-1218-4E28-8BCA-91134C3664C2}";
Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio";
Delete the folder "11.0";
Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio";
Delete the folder "11.0";
Close Regedit and restart Windows;

Thank you for the info. I did some of the steps you indicated but not all of them. I will follow your directions and see how it goes. If you need details regarding errors, etc please send me an email to info@gomactrading and I will give you all error details that I will encounter, as well as the circumstances.

I can understand that. I did what you indicated. However I do not have the identity {E188D820- etc} in either places indicated by you. Upon reinstallation of V11 the new identities are:
{F99F9E24-EE2F-47FD-AEB0-FDB82859B5C9}
{BB8AE808-F003-4C7F-B56B-8C80EEAFFE23}
Not sure what the relevancy of this information is but this is what my system shows. I did not test the new installation as it past 1:00 AM here. I will have to give it a good try and see if it consistently DOES NOT crash. Thanks again for the info.

Wow, just when I was thinking of upgrading from 10+ to 11
I have had some previous problems with both 9 and 10+, but the clean installation detailed above seemed to solve the issues. My previous problems dealt with Flash not working, and Smartsound.
PCMag recently reviewed these video editing packages. I think VS slipped off Editors Choice, but I hope the improvements keep coming.
