Does that mean this new font still doesn't work for you?
Hi Svuppe
You are really the best !
Video studio11 is working fine with your font and VISTA .
I have tried a lot of things and i was always disappointed .
A Great THANK YOU for your job .
I think you should ask for royalties to the "Team CORE ULEAD "
( Sorry for my bad english )

Salut Svuppe
Encore merci
I'm sorry... but in Danish i can't translate
That is really good to hear my work hasn't been a waste. I just might make a a couple of more fonts "VS compatible". I would like some suggestions to which fonts you'd like to have for VS. I think the one we have now is a bit thin in the characters, at least for television viewing.
But remember for any suggestions you may have, it must be a freeware font, in which we are allowed to make a few adjustments.
The royalties sounds fun, but I'd rather see them fix this bug in VS instead, so we can use all fonts the way it was intended.

Hi SvuppeSvuppe wrote:I have now found a freeware font, which doesn't look too bad, and I have tried to do a complete western character mapping in it. However, I haven't tested it at all, as I don't have VS installed at work. If you'd like to try it, then get it here:
http://www.ejberg.dk/temp/day_roman_vs.zip
Just install the .ttf file (copy to c:\windows\fonts in XP or right click->install in Vista).. Then start VS and use the font "Day Roman" to make your titles.
I will test it myself tonight, but please let me know if it works in your language.
I tried your fonts, unfortunatelly it does not work with VS 10+ and W XP. They main problem is that probably you have different keyboard driving system as many other computers in middle Europe.
I have on the desktop in the bottom taskbar in the right corner next to the clock a language selector, where I can switch between the languages and fonts.
Unfortunatelly when I open the VS this taskbar is hidden and I have no access to this switch and I cannot reconfigure my keyboard driver to te foreign languages. There is usually one default language (in my case German, and the VS uses this setup.
This is very important because for example the same key in different languages has a different letter:
German: 4 & ü
Slovak: č 6 ú
Hungarian 4 / ő
Russian 4 : х
etc.
This switch is not working so I cannot select the proper letters in VS at all

When in VS just hit the Windows key and your Taskbar will appear on top of VS.

That is correct, just the switch does not work for VS because when you hit the W key the control is just for desktop and not for the running application.Black Lab wrote:When in VS just hit the Windows key and your Taskbar will appear on top of VS.
(in all other applications the taskbar appears automatically and is somehow coupled to the running application and even each character in a single world can be from different languages (in MS W, Excel, IE Explorer etc)
Ok. I don't have VS10 at all, so I can't try to figure out what the problem may be. I just tried it in VS11+ (with a german keyboard configuration), and my font does seem to work fine here.weaver wrote:I tried your fonts, unfortunatelly it does not work with VS 10+ and W XP.
Now that you mention german... I only see one download from Germany, and if that is you, then you got the old font from before I fixed a bug. If the .zip file is 41495 bytes then please re-download the file (which now is 40313 bytes) and try that one instead.

thank you for your help. I tried it, it is always the same. I cannot find your characters - what is your default language on your PC when you use those characters. It seems the the ULEAD uses always the default character set only.
What keys are the special keys in Danish?

Hi
I found the solution. Before I start the ULEAD VS I have to select the wanted language as default. In this case the foreign characters will work also in ULEAD.
There is no need to change anything on character sets (as long you have the full set for those languages) and those characters will appear also in ULEAD.
For eg. when I want to use Russian characters I select Russian characters as default (on the top line in the WINDOWS set-up, then apply and then I start ULEAD. It works
Thank you for the help.
Best regards

Did you installed also the proper drivers (keyboard) and character sets. Not all fonts have all foreign characters, and in the W setup you have to activate those languages with the corresponding keyboard drivers.Svuppe wrote:Interesting that you can get some languages to work. I have just experimented a bit with my VS11+, and by selecting german in the windows settings, I can get the german characters in VS without problems. Unfortunately not so with danish, which is what I need. And not with swedish either.
There are two windows, in the upper one you select the default language (when you start your computer) in the lower window there is a list of supported languages and the corresponding keyboard drivers. (In same cases you have to extend the language support for those countries (Russian, etc.) this is somewhere in regional settings.

I read with much interest this post as I am nearing the end of editing my videos taken last year while on a tour of most of the Scandinavian countries.
I was able to create the special characters required such as in Flåm (Norway) in my titles and I'm grateful to the originator of this thread.
HOWEVER I CANNOT create these special characters when entering text for names in the movie MENU below the thumbnail for a chapter.
When I enter Fl then ALT 0229 then m it displays as Fl0229m.
Any suggestions?

That's odd. That is exactly where I don't have a problem, but of course I have a keyboard with that character directly accessible, without having to resort to ALT xxxx. What happens if you type the letter in another application like Notepad or pick it in Character Map, and then copy/paste it into VS?jparnold wrote:HOWEVER I CANNOT create these special characters when entering text for names in the movie MENU below the thumbnail for a chapter.
