Sorry I can't help Christian, that's the only trick I know!
I have no idea why that particular character alone is not cooperating!

Unfortunately, this copy/paste trick doesn't work with the danish characters either. And I can't try the Alt-num, as I have a keyboard without numeric keypad.

I'm afraid not. I don't have a Num-lock either. The keyboard is a Logitech diNovo Edge. A really nice keyboard in most situations, but it does have its drawbacks (like in this case).

I have sent a reminder to support so I really hope they answer soon.

I wonder then what is different about my set-up as I am just typing my messages into the Board default message box, not in another program and then cutting and pasting. And I seem to be able to type directly Å and å... Ditto with VS10 and VS11 titles... :?: And what is more, I can do it not only on this computer (with Vista Home Premium) but on another computer running XP Pro.

Can people actually see the correct symbol once I hit submit? (I can.)

And to test Steve's observation that the symbol disappears if it is put in the Board's quote marks, I have just copied the symbols from my earlier message, and pasted it in between the quote marks, thus:
type directly Å and å...

Yes we can see your symbols.
The symbols appear when I type them in they way you describe, but as soon as I submit the post they revert to what can be seen in my posts.

I guess it is just one of those computer mysteries!

Foreign characters

Post by weaver »

According the ULEAD Help Desk they are not going to support characters besides the standard ASCII set.

It is very interesting because the 3D COOL supports more foreign characters than the VS does, but no-one is fully compatible with Windows character sets unfortunately.... :x :x

Christian,
I was wondering what operating system you are using.
I have noticed on the net that there are reports emerging that VISTA does not fully support the ANSI character set in some foreign languages.
This could explain the reply "weaver" got from Ulead to some degree.

Ken, you have both systems and VS11. Could you try both systems to see if this is maybe a "vista" thing?

It does not work either on Vista nor on XP. And unfortunatly COREL DRAW also does not support all foreign characters....
