Character problem and Videostudio 11+

Post by Christian Alfredsson »

I cant write the swedish character a with a dot over. (Åå)

Both big and small one doesn't work. Other swedish characters work fine.

It doesn't matter if I copy from Word or change font.

You mean Å and å? If so, then do a Google search for the full set of 'international ANSI characters'. They seem to work in Video Studio titles.

To make the Å, you hold down the Alt key on your keyboard, then in the numerical keyboard at the right end of a standard keyboard, you type 0197. And for å it is Alt+0229.

They also have the Danish (and Icelandic) special characters.

It's a bit clumsy but it works for me at least...

Alt 0197 = a
Alt 0229 = ?

That was the result on my computer.

Å
å

Just did the key presses here on my work machine running NT4 SP6

They appeared on my screen but after submitting the post reverted to what you now see. Are you holding down the ALT key whilst you then press the key combination?

Try testing it in Windows Notepad.
At least you will know if its a Ulead thing or a 'Your computer' thing.

ALSO, you must use the numeric keypad at the right hand side of your keyboard, using the number keys across the to row of the QWERTY does not work.

Ok I just tested it in VS on my XP machine using the ANSI code and the poster is correct, the character does not have the ring above.
The work around is to use the ANSI system in notepad then "cut and paste" into the title track. This works.

You were right. I did it wrong when I tested it

But now when I test it in Videostudio I get the same character as in the first place. When I type big A (a with a dot) on the keyboard or with ansi the result is the same.

Lets be sure we are on the same track here.
I opened notepad and typed the ansi code for A with the ring on the top. Sorry I don't know the name of that!
I then hit "ctrl+c" to copy. I had VS10 open already and went to the "title" tab. Double clicked on the screen and used "ctrl+v" to paste.
The correct character of an A with the ring on the top cam up.
Is that what you did?

Yes. I did the same. But I have VS11+ instead

All swedish special characters work the only exeption is A wit a dot over it.
