VideoStudio 11 capture composite video

Post by allendbj »

I just downloaded version 11. I am attempting to capture video from my Canon Mini DV. When I select capture video I hear the sound but the previous window is blank and the resulting the clip has no video. this worked in VideoStudio 9 which I have been using for a couple of years.

There is a bug (many of us have experienced it) whereby VS11 will not capture analogue video, including from a digital camera being used as passthrough.

We understand that Corel/Ulead are working on a general patch to VS11, and I am pretty sure (I hope! ) that this bug will be fixed in it as well. Until that time, you will need to continue using VS9 for capture purposes (or in my case VS10+).

Thank you. Is there any advantage to upgrading to 10 at this time for me? I have a very specific application over the next few weeks that requires me to capture via composite (
USB 2.0) connection

No, I wouldn't really think so if you are happy with the quality of your captures in VS9. The quality aspect won't change with an upgrade.

And I am not sure how you would go about upgrading to 10 anyway, now that VS11 is out.
