Hargyn wrote:Regarding: PATCH for Kodak .MOV files From forum member davemac :
I just purchased a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 which uses "Quick Time Motion JPEG" files for it's video. I have looked everywhere on the forums ,etc without success. Will the above patch work for the Quick Time file? I do not want to try the super Video encoder unless I have to. Do you know a way I can get these files into VS 11+ and then edit them?
If Ulead does not recognize them, perhaps we could suggest that they work on this in a future patch. They are selling a bunch of Panasonic cameras, and the video from mine looks pretty good when I view it on the computer. I have it loaded into Photoshop Elements.
Thanks,
George

Firstly I must again remind users of the following link which has now been relocated into the forum Rules
Private Messages and Emails to Forum Staff
users are encouraged to submit suggestions for improvements to VideoStudio in this link:
VideoStudio wish list for future versions
I can confirm that Ulead do monitor that particular thread for sensible suggestions.
VideoStudio 11+ should not require a quicktime patch, it recognizes quicktime files.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 video files
Panasonic uses "Quick Time Motion JPEG" for the video files in this camera. I could not get them to the time line from the Library where they were as .MOV files. A forum member "mrheckman" was kind enough to help out by suggesting that I open the files in Explorer, then open VS and drag the files directly to the timeline. It worked like a charm! Thanks "mrheckman".
Here is a quote of his instructions:
"Try starting from scratch, with the video files (the real ones, direct from your camera and with ".mov"extensions) and photos in "My Documents" or some other folder totally separate from the Ulead folders. Keep the WinExplorer window open. Open Ulead and start a new project. Drag and drop the video clips and photos from the WinExplorer window directly into the timeline. Does that work? The drag and drop ability is very convenient because you don't have to browse for clips and put them in the VS library (which is fragile, as you've found out)".

Panasonic digital camera video files
Here is an update on the Quick Time Motion JPEG file use in VS 11. After successfully dragging video files to the timeline, I found that a clip would properly play-video and audio-in the "Clip Mode", but in the "Project Mode" the audio was nothing but white noise. Our forum member, mrheckman had the answer for this problem also. He suggested that I use Quick Time 6.5. I was using 7.1. When I changed back to 6.5 the clips played properly-both video and audio-in Clip and Project modes.
Thanks again mrheckman.
Thanks again mrheckman.

Thank you for sharing this fix. I am sure it will assist quite a few members who suffer this issue.tahustvedt wrote:I also had the same problem. Noise when the project was played or rendered, normal sound if the clip was played. I use a Nikon Coolpix 3700 so it's not just Kodak cameras. The solution was to install the version of Quicktime that's bundled with VS 10 instead of the newest version of QT.
