WinDVD BD compatability issues

I just purchased a brand new top of the line Vaio VGNAR590E which has a bluray drive and came with WinDVD BD installed. I only have 5 bluray movies but 2 show up in winDVD as being from a different region (Casino Royale and Apacalytpo). Im reluctant to change my region as I dont want to get locked into the wrong region. The movies were both bought in California so the region most definitely matches the computer. I got Casino Royale to play with PowerDVD but that player seems to skip a lot when I watch movies so I want everything to work with this program. Does anyone know how to get these movies to work? I find it deplorable that this program doesnt work 100% of the time because for what I paid for this computer I shouldnt be dealing with compatability issues.
