How to supress the background music?

Post by mallikar »

Hi,

Some back ground music is getting mixed with audio during the tape to DVD conversion process. I have used ulead VS 11 plus, using DV-to-DVD-wizard utility. How to suppress the background music? Please let me know.

Thanks & Regards

In the VS Editor module, with the video in the timeline, and using the Edit page, either press the Mute button or reduce the volume in the little window next to the Mute button from the default 100 to 0.

Hi Ken,

Is there any method that I can ultimately perform without using the VS Editor module? I wish to use the dv-to-dvd wizard straight away. Is there any setting that helps some thing like editing the properties text file and use it.

Sorry but I have never used the DV to DVD wizard, so cannot advise you on that. Hopefully someone else will jump in here with suggestions.

Any one can help me on this topic? Basically, I don't want the background music during the process of conversion from tape to DVD using dv-to-dvd wizard in ulead VS11.

There is no option in vs11+ to supress the music in the DV-DVD wizard. You must do what Ken has already explained.

Thanks to all of you in promptly replying to my post.

Yes, you guys are correct. There is no such option available in the software. I found a way of doing. I have noticed that there are two files with mpa extension (HM_Multi_DIsplay01_Music.mpa, HM_Multi_DIsplay02_Music.mpa) are related to back ground music. I have renamed these two files. The location of these two files are .....C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11\EditingStyle\Audio.

By doing this, I was able to supress the background music and converted the tape media to DVD using dv-to-DVD wizard. It worked !!!

Thanks for the info on how to disable the music in the DV to DVD Wizard. I will try it.

Although I'm a bit peeved at Ulead. Why did they think we would want music behind our video in DVDs, giving us no choice about it?

As an alternative to the DV to DVD wizard have you tried the Movie Wizard instead.

Bit more control available than with the DV to DVD wizard but not as technical as the full blown VideoStudio Editor. Plus you get the chance to pass the completed wizard to the VideoStudio Editor for further tweaking.

Thanks, but what I want to do is use the DV to DVD function to select scenes from old tapes and transfer to DVD overnight. Unless there is a better way, I like the idea of letting VS do it while I do something else (sleep).
