Serial Number Issue Installing PE 8.5

I am trying to install a Lenovo webcam which came bundled with Photo Express 8.5 on CD. I have been able to successfully install the drivers and Photo Express 8.5 software on my laptop running WIN 2K. However I cannot install it on the new desktop with which I purchased the webcam. It runs Vista Home Basic.
The software installation routine rejects the serial number on the CD envelope. I have tried typing it with and without dashes, with and without spaces between dashes.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
