Long titles -> VS11Plus runs slow?
To whom it may concern,
I just upgraded from version 8 to version 11 Plus.
I've been creating informative titles to prefix chapters and movies, maybe a few paragraphs or so, to explain what people are looking at etc.
Under version 8, I would type it up, then just ask the program to share a video, with no noticeable problems.
Under version 11 though, as I get to maybe 2 or more paragraphs, the program starts to slow down. It gets to the stage I can type out a few sentences, then have to wait seconds for each letter to eventually appear.
Do other people find this? Is there a patch or workaround?
Kind regards

I don't normally use this sort of title, I use the Multiple titles. So I tried and found the same, that VS11+ starts slowing way down. However I was doing this in my normal hardware profile, which has numerous processes running in the background. I'll have to try this in my editing profile to see if I get the same results.
Steve's suggestion is a good workaround for this.

Workaround is good
Thank you both for comments on the workaround.
I've saved some default comments, giving me the approximate width of the
VS11Plus screen etc.
Copy and paste is quick.
But it is a curious issue. If it's just text, why does it take so long for
VS11Plus to work out how to display it, as opposed to what VS8 did?

:)
Many thanks again Ron, and also for the test results. So it's definitely something that was introduced in v11+
I also looked at the project file sizes. Projects handling maybe 5-7 movies and 5-7 images, with transitions and perhaps separate audio tracks, can be 20-50k.
A project with one black movie (10sec) one title (about 100-400 characters), and one audio track can be 100-150k.
It's almost as if each character in the title is adding 1 kb ... when it should be about 1000 characters to the kb ...

Today I received the following reply from Corel Customer Service.
Response (R. Masiclat) - 06/28/2007 03:09 AM
Dear Ron,
Thank you for contacting Corel Customer Support Services.
I have simulated the problem and it does happen in VideoStudio 11. VideoStudio 10 does not seem to have the same problem, as with the older versions. I will send a report to our development team. Hopefully it will be included in the upcoming patch. Thanks Ron.
Regards,
R. Masiclat

Thanks :) Your response was better
They responded to me, but suggested I pay them to get it fixed ...
Is it the usual response to people who just bought an upgrade, to ask them to pay more to get things fixed?
Then they include links to the knowledge base (there was no knowledge base for v11 when I raised this ... and I checked it anyways) and links to the forum (I already said I discussed this in the forum).
Lastly, they included a link on how to uninstall the program!
Is this their usual response to people raising problems with the software?
(I was polite at the time; I'm annoyed now)
*very disappointed*

Dear Mr ...
We do offer support for troubleshooting errors that are not related to Warranty support. Warranty support covers installation issues and issues that happen immediately after installation. Any error or problem troubleshooting after the program has been working correctly for a period of time would fall under our Priority support program. Priority options can be reviewed at the link below.
Additionally, our Newsgroups and Knowledge base are two great features included in our priority support program. You'll find the Newsgroups can be a great place to ask questions about problems that you have encountered with the software. The Corel Knowledge Base includes articles for resolving problems and learning to use certain program features. I've included links below to the Newsgroups and Knowledge Base page as well.
Customers requiring non-Warranty support for troubleshooting problems may wish to purchase Priority Support. By purchasing support incident packs, you can take advantage of our discounted multiple incident pricing structure. Of course, you also have the option of purchasing single Priority Support incidents as well.

Got a reply
Got a better reply, though not a solution.
This time they said that they could not reproduce the problem, and so could not call it a bug.
So, why would their machine not reproduce the bug, and ours would? Especially as you tested it against several earlier versions on the same machine ...
