VideoStudio9 and Vista

Post by filmingkansas »

Ok so I just re-installed VideoStudio 9 onto my new computer operating on Vista, and I've been having a lot of problems with the audio.

Here is the exact message I receive when trying to playback video clips:

"Failed to use DirectShow video engine. Cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding."

Even though I do have speakers hooked up and they are working well with other things.

So I was thinking this might be related to Vista, since I've heard some funky talk about drivers and not being compatible with some programs.

Please help! I know there is an update with VideoStudio 10 but I haven't heard anything about 9. What should I do?

VideoStudio 9 is not designed to be used with Vista.
There is a Vista patch available for 10
VideoStudio 11 is Vista compatible.

Vista does not support DSW (Direct Show for Windows), and VS9 uses that. So VS9 will not work properly in Vista. VS10 requires a patch to work with Vista, and VS11, the current VS release is fully Vista compatible.

So to run VS9 you will need no more then XP operating system. If you must run Vista, then you will have to upgrade to VS11/VS11+.

O.T.

So where are you filming in Kansas?

Then is there an upgrade from VideoStudio 9 to VideoStudio 10 that I can buy? Then from there I can download the patch.

I realllly don't want to spend all that money again on VideoStudio 11.

You might try a Google search to see if you can find a copy of VS10+, or maybe Amazon.com, or as a last resort Ebay. However I'll bet you'll find that cost for 10 is not that much less then 11 right now.

Your VS9 does qualify for upgrade to VS11 (cost-$59.99), but the upgrade to VS10 is no longer available. Just done a quick search on Amazon.com for VS10+. The cheapest price is $88.00 VS10+ on Amazon.com.

Ebay has one auction for VS10 not the plus version. That person wants $39.99 for it. Ebay 2-Days left, VS10.

Normally I would not look for these, but I just wanted to show, that the cost of upgrading to VS11+ directly to Ulead/Corel is not as pricey as it seems.
