Error on writing file. VS 11+

Post by tahustvedt »

When I try to encode a video to WMV9 "Bit rate VBR" I get an error message. It it does not happen if I disable the audio encoder though or use CBR, but I want to use VBR. "Quality VBR" and "Bit rate VBR Peak" refuse to complete encoding as it starts the seconds pass which is a different problem and one which I haven't explored.

The error message I get with "Bit rate VBR" is:

"Error on writing file. (0xc00d0bc3)
[18300:9000:149]"

System specs:
Intel C2D E6420 CPU
ASRock 4CoreDual VSTA motherboard
1 GB PC3200 DDR RAM
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 128 MB driving two 20" LCD's
ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 256 MB driving one 17" LCD
Windows XP Pro with latest updates and WMP 11

The 9700 Pro is driving two monitors because it's an AGP card and therefore has to be the primary video card.

The problem appeared for no apparent reason after making five videos or so with the software over the past couple of days. I had this exact same problem before with my old system (different components except for ram and 9700 Pro) and VideoStudio 9 and also 10 with the exact same behaviour but I don't remember if or how I solved it.

What does the error message mean?

I tried some more combinations now and if I choose CBR audio WMV 9.2 it works. Strange that VBR should stop working after a number of runs (just like it did with the old versions on the old system.

This is acceptable for me if it works as long as I can use VBR video, it's probably what I did before with the old system and previous versions to solve the problem.
