Make Movie Templates Issue SUCCESS

Hi

I have done a search and a few tests.
The file associated with the Make Movie manager is located here:-

C:\Documents and Settings\Trevor Andrew\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0

It is called:-

MovieTem.dat

Copy this file to another location.

After loading VS paste the saved file to overwrite MovieTem.dat

Video Studio appears to be overwriting the file using its default.
This should not happen.

Library Pages:-
Check your library Video, Image, Audio pages. Add a few clips to the library, are these also being overwritten in the same way??

When you re-installed VS did you perform a ¡¥Clean Install¡¦

A Clean Install is probably worth the effort.

Thanks Trevor.

I looked in this directory and this files didnt exist.

I therefore did a complete uninstall, removed the 11.0 directory and installed again.

The MovieTem.dat file still didnt exist.

I found the PAL MovieTem version on the installation CD and copied it over but still no joy.

The files doesnt seem to be being overwritten at all when using the template manager. Looks like there is a problem with the software config on my PC.

Exact same problem

I also, cannot SAVE or USE any created Movie Templates. What is going on? I cannot bypass this feature, as I am creating AVCHD. I have been using Video Studio since V5.0. I, too, have completely removed program and reinstalled with no change.

Please Help!

P.S. The MovieTem.dat file can be found in the Ulead.dat folder. Moving this file to the Ulead directory does not help.

The MovieTem.dat file is located on my system only here::

C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11\Ulead.dat

It is 4kB.

Hi

The file should also exist in (C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0) This is the user defined version. When I delete this file it is recreated when opening or closing VS.

I think this problem needs reporting to ¡¥Tech Support¡¦

One thought:-

When closing Video Studio try using ¡¥File Exit¡¦ instead of the ¡¥X¡¦
(clutching at straws)

I have now reported this to Tech Support. The file is simply not being created/saved by VS, whatever i do to close, open, and save with the template manager. looks like bug which others are experienceing also. Obviously i will post any response from Ulead.

No he doesn't mean that. Most of us have DirectX 9.0c -- but two patches for it have been released this year. Go to the Microsoft site and search for Runtime Version of DirectX 9.0c and you will find that the latest patch for it was released about a month ago, right at the beginning of June. Download and apply that.

Hi

Thanks Ken for clarifying I do not know if it will make any difference, but its worth a go.

Iceritchie, to be honest I am running out of ideas, I do not think the problem has occurred before so its probably associated with VS 11?????
A ¡¥Clean Install¡¦ will be tech support¡¦s first action, so its probably worth doing again.
Hopefully they will come up with a result.

Still thinking, good luck anyway.

MovieTem

Right. I checked and MovieTem.dat is also located in (C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0).

I also have submitted a ticket to Ulead Tech support.

Where are the Movie Templates Stored?

Post by Philly55 »

It might be of help to click the ADD button. This button has a Brouse Button associated with it. If I knew in what directory the Movie Templates are stored, I could see if ADDing to one of the exisiting templates and then Storing the template in the correct directory may make a difference.

I am sure that VideoStudio probably looks in the same directory each time for the created Movie Templates. If the created and saved template is not in the correct directory, then VideoStudeo probably does not see it.

Maybe not, too. When I try to change and save the two preset movie templates, VideoStudio does not see my changes during the Share operation. Even going right back to the Movie Template Manager, my changes are not seen. Hummmm.

Phil, Looks like you and i have the same problem. Perhaps others do also. Maybe the Tech Support guys will help. I will let you know when i get a response. I have been very impressed with VS11 and now see fixing this one issue as becoming a mission for me.

Success

Post by iceritchie »

Think I have fixed this.

I deleted the MovieTem.Dat file from my documents directory (C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0).

It also existed in C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11\Ulead.dat on my PC, but i dont believe that this is the one that gets overwritten.

I found that when using the template Manager now, it did not pick up any templates at all (i.e. didnt see the MovieTem file, it did however recreate this file, new but empty, in my doc directory)

When i went back to the recycle bin to restore the MovieTem file back, i noticed it was a 'read only' file.

I restored the file which in itself didnt solve the issue. I then changed the file property attribute (left click on file->properties) and unticked the 'Read Only' box.

First test seems to now work OK. I guess perseverance and endeavour can sometimes overtake technical knowledge

Thanks for everyones help.

Regards, Neil
