Problems burning DVD using UVS8 SE

Post by dthompson »

I'm wondering if anyone can help. I'm running UVS8 SE (still a new user to it) and having problems burning video to DVD. I run through the wizard OK but get to the point just before it commits it to DVD then I receive the following error:

Cannot open file:
[93006:1:0]

I have in the first instance updated all the patches available on the Ulead site but this has not fixed the problem.

I am running with:

Windows XP Home Edition
Pentium 4 3.2Ghz with HT
160GB hard disk
1GB RAM
Philips DVD+-RW DVD8631

I believe the problem may have something to do with the fact that my DVD burner is not on Ulead's compatibility list, but need to know if anyone else has experienced this problem and if this can be fixed easily.

I have been told by Ulead support to remove all files in "C:\Documents and Settings\<my profile>\Local Settings\Temp" which I have done several times, but the issue still persists.

Any help will be greatly appreaciated.

Are you absolutely certin that your SE (Simple Edition) version will actually burn DVDs? There are a variety of SE editions, all of which are crippled in some way, though the crippled feature(s) vary. A common one, though, is to allow the program to burn VCDs or SVCDs, but not DVDs. Silly, I know, since you probably only every want to burn DVDs, but the SE version is really only a 'teaser' to show what the program is capable of (at least you can see a burnt project on VCD or SVCD), and entice you to buy the full program.

I guess you could be right Ken, although there is no mention of there being functions which are restricted in this version, anywhere in the help files or documentation.

Also, I would have expected Ulead Support to have mentioned this to me over the telephone when I spoke to them.

I will try the VCD and SVCD functionality and see if these work.

Thanks for your feedback.
