Blank Theme, DV-to-DVD capture with nothing

Post by jlinck »

Using VS 10 DV-to-DVD wizard to quickly dump video from my camcorder to DVD. I don't want any theme or anything applied to it. Just straight video to my DVD media. How do I do that? it forces me to choose a theme and the themes add all kinds of borders and stuff, which I don't want for this task. Please advise. Thanks.

Don't use the wizard
If you are thinking of capturing straight to DVD disk, I think you are pushing a string.

Capturing is pretty demanding on any PC, especially if it has to do the encoding to DVD compliant mpeg2 on the fly in real time. Burning as such is just as demanding and, as a rule, while I'm burning a disk, I do nothing else on my system.

Now, you want to do these two things at once? I wish you luck.

Actually, it certainly doesn't bother me if it does it in "2 steps", as long as the system does it. That is, all I want to do is to be able to very easily have it capture by video off my camcorder, then do what it needs to do and burn it to a disk. It works perfectly with the DV-to-DVD wizard except that it forces me to use a theme, and there is no blank one. I just click a few things, then get on with my life, returning later for a burned disc that serves as a useful backup, among other things.

One could dispute the "usefulness" of that back up but that is another subject altogether.

Capture to DVD compliant mpeg2 in the first step and then add the mpeg2 file to the time line and share to DVD making sure "do not convert compliant.." is selected.

If you do not want to have to touch it in between capturing and burning, get someone else to do it for you. I'm afraid, you can't have your cake and eat it.

actually, I think I can. All I need to do is to create a blank template. I'll figure it out.
