Video Capture using Sony DVD-R/RW

Post by leerobi »

I have a Sony DVD-R/RW Camcorder and recorded and finialized several DVD-RW discs. I also recently upgraded from VS7 to VS11+ primarily due to the ability to convert VOB files to MPEG2. My most recent experience is when I convert the DVD VOB files, I get a very short version of the material on the DVD. A 17 minute DVD will convert down to a 1 min 10 sec video, with the video and the audio misaligned. The converted stored MPEG2 does consume the natural 720MB disk space consistent with a 17 minute video, however, I cannot get more than 1min 10 sec to show up as video in VS11+. My DVD player (Media Player) will play the entire video without issue. Anyone know what causes this? I have tried the Capture several different ways, copy to HD first, select the VIDEO_TS directory specifically, etc.

Are you importing the dvd using the "Import DVD/DVD-VR function" or renaming the VOB files to mpg and inserting them into the timeline.

I am using the "Import DVD/DVD-VR" feature provided. If I copy the VOB file, I only get the video portion, the AC3 audio is lost.

oops, audio story is not true, I just installed an AC3 codec and I get audio, however, the timeline seems nerfed, much like I get above. InterVideo DVD plays the file just right but the timeline does not increment properly. About 1 minute of playing video will show a 1 second change in the timeline.
