Install problem - how do I find serial number?

Post by N6TR »

Paid for VideoStudio 11 downloaded it - but can't install it because I have no clue what to put in for the serial number in the install process. Can't find anything in search or google. Can this really be that hard?

The serial number should be in one of the emails you received from Element5, or Corel (Ulead). If not you can login to your Element5 account and for your product (VS) click on the View Details link. It will have the License Key listed there.

Thanks for the response. I have the license key - but I can't get far enough into the process without the serial number. Using the key for the serial number doesn't seem to work. Nothing in any of the e-mails I have received has a serial number in it.

Tried using the demo version and putting my license key into it - but that didn't work either. Seems like unless you are upgrading, getting version 11 via download is broken.

Ok, this poses a question, did you inadvertently purchase the Upgrade and not the full version?

If you purchased the upgrade, then it will ask for the serial number of your qualifying product. For example, if you have VS9 and upgraded to VS11/11+ then you will need the serial number of VS9 too. This is to confirm that you do already own an earlier product that qualifies for the upgrade discount..

> Did you purchase the upgrade?

A very fair question indeed. However, I don't think so. Here is an excerpt from the email I got after purchasing it:

Ulead VideoStudio 11 (Full/Download) (#300156669) 1 Unit(s)

The price I paid was $85.98 - including the CD that costs $12.99 with 3 dollars shipping - which backs out to $69.99. The price for the upgrade is $59.99 for the + version - don't see an upgrade price for the VideoStudio 11 non plus version.

Not having much fun this morning....

I can see where this would ruin your day..:(,

Your main program file if the Full ESD version should be uvs11_plus_(e).exe.

Try logging in to your account with Element5, and checking the License Key and the Serial Number, listed there with the one you're trying to use.

It could be a bad download, so you could try to download it again (I don't think this is the problem, but stranger things have happened).

When you uninstalled, did you do a complete/clean uninstall/reinstall? Try doing a complete un-install/re-install. Ulead programs leave a lot of files behind. So just doing a simple add/remove programs from the control panel and then re-installing may not correct some issues. Instructions can be found here : Re-installation of Ulead Products

The only other option that I can see right now, is that they sent you the wrong license key. You would need to conact them for a correct key..

Ok, I just re-read your posts again...

A License Key is for activating TBYB (trial) versions. It will not work with a full/upgrade version.

The serial numbers are for the full/upgrade versions. Somewhere in your emails or like I stated in your account for your VS11 purchase, it will have the Serial Number listed. Jot that down, and try entering it. If you purchased a License Key, then you will need to use it to activate the TBYB version.

Well - I sent a note to customer service to let them sort this out. This shouldn't be this hard. :-) Again - nothing in any e-mail from them talks about a serial number.

I am just using the trial version now.

Thanks for trying.

unable to install video studio 11 due to request for serial

I have exactly the same problem having purchased a full version for download. I think that the docmentation I recieved on completion of purchase either has the wrong link and has resulted in me downloading the upgrade files or the system has detected that I had the lite v ersion preinstalled on my machine when I bought the PC [video studio 8 SE] and assumed it is an upgrade i've ordered
