Chapters in Ver. 8

Post by shoalhaven »

I must have missed something in Ver. 8.

My chapters work as advertised, the only problem is that they do not stop when completed. Example, on playback using Power DVD, when the first chapter is completed, it goes right on into the next chapter.

Is there a setting that forces a stop after each chapter, such as in Pinnacle?

Hi --

The chapters are not separate videos, just markers allowing you to get somewhere without fast-forwarding. My videos do not stop at the chapters either. I think that's normal function.

When you get to the first "Create Disc" dialogue window click on the small gear wheel at the very bottom. In the new dialogue box which opens change the dropdown at the bottom FROM "Continue to play the next clip" TO "Back to Menu"

Brian -- I think that function relates to separate video clips on the menu, each of which in turn can contain chapters. But this begs the question, of course, whether the original poster was using the term 'chapters' correctly. As far as I know, as has already been said by Keith, chapters properly speaking are only markers, and the video containing them will simply continue to play. But if you have, say, six separate video clips on your DVD, unrelated to each other, and you don't want them to play continuously from one clip to the next, you use the command you mention. The poster may be thinking of each clip as a separate 'chapter' in the overall project, (though properly speaking they arene't), in which case your command will work to send the player back to the menu after each clip has finished.
