Magnified screen/controls in WinDVD 4

Hello all.

After several online chats with HP support (I have a HP laptop running Windows XP), and a download of WinDVD 4 from the HP site (as suggested by tech support), the program still opens in a magnified, "safe mode" state/appearance. I've uninstalled/installed several times, and tried Program Compatibility--which I beleive settled the problem ONE TIME today--but upon opening the program later this day, the magnification issue returned, and nothing I try settles the problem.

In the past year, I used to have another version of the program which worked--but for some reason, it fails to install, so it is no longer an option.

I could use Windows Media Player as a backup of a kind, but let's face it: it lacks the control options of WinDVD.

Please help??
