VideoStudio10 stopped capturing, blank video window

Post by Russ_hank »

Please help, this is doing my head in...

I've got VideoStudio 10 and a Panasonic NV-GX7, it has captured from the camera in the past but has now stop, the although the camera is recognised, and the play back starts on capture, the playback window is blank. after a few minutes the capture fails.

This happened before and an update of the graphics driver fixed it, but another update for the driver didn't fix it this time?

Can someone point me in the right direction to fixing this issue please?

By the way, my old version of pinnacle is now doing the same thing...

I'm pretty sure this is a problem with the graphics card but don't know where to start....
Any ideas, gratefully received.

Cheers
Russ

The actual capture shouldn't have anything to do with your video card. I assume that you are capturing via Firewire, and this should only involve your Firewire driver. (The video card is only displaying the image on the monitor.)

If you have a Firewire card, you can try removing it and re-seating it in the slot. Or, you can try a new Firewire card. They are not expensive. If your Firewire port is on the motherboard (most are now), you can try a different port. Or again, try a new plug-in Firewire card.

It could also be a flaky Firewire cable. Cable failures (and other connection failures) are the most common hardware problem! Or, it could be the camera. Do you have access to another computer so that you can rule-out a problem with the camera or cable?

However, wierd shtuff can happen with drivers... So, you never know... It might be the graphics driver.. :?

If you have a plug-in video/graphics card, you could try buying a new one. If you have a graphics chip built onto the motherboard, it could get a little technical... You might have to disable the onboard graphics chip in the BIOS.
