UVS 11 Doesn't Import Individual .VOB

Post by rocrfella »

The first thing I've noticed is that UVS11 doesn't allow you to import .VOB files to VideoEditor like UVS10. Is there a solution to this or am I doing something wrong?

No, you are -- sadly -- not wrong. For some arcane reason, Corel/Ulead decided to drop what to many of us was a particularly useful addition in VS10.

The only alternative is to use the Insert DVD/DVD-VR command to import either from the DVD or from a DVD Video_TS folder on your computer hard drive.

I just installed VS 11+ on my XP Pro system. When I try to select the title or chapter from the DVD import menu, I get the Microsoft dialog stateting Ulead created some error do I want to report it. Any clue what is wrong?

Sorry should have said that I am trying to import from a SONY DVD-RW camcorder disc in my DVD drive.

Try copy/paste the entire DVD to a hard drive folder and then try importing from that.

I tried that, I still get the same error.

When I select the chapter or the title, the hard drive works pretty hard (along with the DVD if that was selected) then this error shows up after the screen tries to update the update box.

It might be a faulty DVD - try using another to see if that one works.

It may be due to the error I mentioned in this post.

And can you confirm that the disc was properly finalised before removing it from the camera, please?

Checked, only have one of those files and the date is 03/-3/2007, 993kB. I am going to download the latest DirectX 9 runtime. Maybe this could help. Gonna take some time, on dialup.
Thanks

The 993KB file is the faulty one.
Rename it so that you can revert to it again at a later date if you wish.
Then download and install the one in the link I provided.

Steve,
thanks very much. Your catch of the faulty .dll was the issue. I downloaded and now capture is as expected.

Ken,
Yes I did finalize the DVD. If you don't finalize, a different error appears. I believe that the import does not recognize the format. But finalization is definately required.

Thank you both very much.
