DV Capture Drivers seem to be missing

Post by nunawj »

Hi Guys, I have stumbled across this forum in my search for help.

I had no real issues with capturing (via Firewire) and editing video until I lent my camera to a friend who edited footage taken on a MAC system.

I have since tried to capture video from my camera and VideoStudio 9 does not detect my camera anymore. The error suggests that I don't have the correct drivers installed. (interestingly, it will detect my camera using the USB cable).

-My Camera is a Sony DCR HC20.
-VideoStudio 9
-Windows XP
-Belkin Firewire

The camera is not listed in the device manager on my PC (However I can't confirm if it was before I had this problem, but assuming it was).

Is this familiar to anyone....ie can MAC do these sort of things?
Does anyone know how I can get the drivers back (if in fact that is my problem)?

Any suggestions much appreciated.

You do not need to install any drivers and, no, using the camera on a MAC will not change nothing about the drivers installed on your machine. I suspect the Belkin firewire card has a problem. Check to ensure it is properly seated within you mother board.

You can also remove it from within the device manager. Upon restart, Win should detect "new hardware" even though it is not new and install it again.

Maybe that will correct your problem.

You can also try going to the Windows Control Panel and selecting the add new hardware wizard to see if gets detected.

It could also be the firewire cable itself or, since you lent out your camera, may the port on the camera has been damaged.
