Want to change 16:9 to 4:3 or vise versa

Post by nomihs »

Okay, here is my dilemma. (Sorry in advance if this has been covered, tried to use the search option but that is really clunky) I have been given two different forms of video 16:9 and 4:3 for editing on the same video. I want it all to be fluid as one ratio, does not matter which, but I am at a loss as to how to do it. I have tried rendering both ratios into the other with no success. Is there a option in capturing where I can get a 4:3 out of a 16:9? or the other way around?

Thanks for the help,

How much of each do you have -- is it 80/20 one way or the other, or is it more like 50/50 :?:

Hi

Just want to give you additional infos about the aspect ratios:

4:3 = tv, monitors
16:9 = hdtv

I think that it is better to create your project using a 4:3 aspect ratio.

As for your error, I didn't have any problem rendering the joined 16:9 and 4:3 video clips.

Try a clean re-installation or maybe your video clips are corrupted?

Hope this would help.

Yeah, GeorgeW, the footage is about 50/50. Any advice?

Thanks France for the info, I have a good understanding of which which is which, and as far as your rendering...Did you render a 16:9 and a 4:3 together in the same project as one ratio? and if so what was the ratio and what process did you use - and what format did you use also.

I have a sample video of 16:9 and 4:3 i render them both to produce one video clip. (DVD 4:3 format). Evrything went fine. I used VS 10+ but I also have VS 11 installed.

Happy to help.=)

BTW the process i used was I inserted the 16:9 and 4:3 clip into the timeline then I proceed to create a video file in the DVD 4:3 format. I also discovered that on the part where the two video meets, (16:9 & 4:3) a little freeze in the movie takes place. (about quarter of a second).

Happy to help. =)

Hi
Have a read at :-
http://uk.geocities.com/trevor.andrew@b ... 9/16_9.htm

Shows how 16:9 should look in Video Studio, Also gives info on changing a 4:3 to 16:9 using the overlay track.
You can perform the same using the main video timeline and ¡¥distort function¡¦

Hope this Helps
