It's been a month since the last time I used VS10+ and it worked just fine then. Now when I go to either preview a video or still images in my timeline, or when I move the progress bar manually the preview window is black. I still have audio, but just a black screen where the video should be. I have tried recent video and stills I have imported into VS10 and also the stock images and video that came with the program when I installed it. The black screen isn't there when I am previewing just the clip, it only does it when I preview the project.
Any help with this matter would be appreciated. I would really like to get back to editing some footage.
Thanks,
Black screen on VS10+ when previewing project.

Check File > Preferences and make sure the Instant Playback target is the Preview Window.

Hi
Usually the black screen but with audio would indicate that there is a problem with the codec. But if the movie clips are playing in your media player (video and audio) maybe the VS has the problem.
I have some things that you might want to consider:
1.Did you installed new video editing solutions/players/codecs? (they can cause conflict with VS sometimes)
2. Try Updating your video card driver and direct x version.
3. You can also check the ulead website for update patches for your software.
4. You can also try to make a clean re-installation of VS. Procedure can be found here:

5. Oh and also what are the format of the images and video clips you are using?
Hope this would help. =)
