How to use ac3-files

Post by Samuel Pepys »

I want to create a DVD. I have an .mpg file with video and audio (stereo) and an .ac3 - file with the dolby audio. I want to create a DVD with the video from the mpg - file and the sound of the ac3-file instead of the sound of the mpg-file. I cannot find how to do it.

I use the test version.

Sorry, if my question is not clear - I am a German with limited English knowledge and use the German version of the programme.

Trial versions do not support dolby ac3 because the support costs money (license fees). Only the full/upgrade version has it.

In addition to heinz, I don't think that DMF has the capability to split an audio from a movie clip. But I'm sure that VS can do that.

All you can do is open the clip in the "edit room". In the "video tab" enable the mute for the video clip then insert the new audio to your video in the "audio tab".

But as what heinz said, first thing you need is the full version.

Hope this would help.=)

I want to create a DVD. I have an .mpg file with video and audio (stereo) and an .ac3 - file with the dolby audio.
Load the file into MF6+ timeline, do you hear any audio?
I thought the TBYB will support Dolby audio, mine did but that could have been because I already had other ulead software installed on my machine.

To use audio from another video (mpeg file) or audio only file(s).
Load your video into the timeline that you want for the video portion.
You do this in the "Edit Room", in the "Edit Room" you can preview all your changes (and/or cancel them) as you work.
Click on "Edit Room" The Edit Room starts in the StoryBook mode.
The first thing you do in the "Edit Room" is switch it to "TimeLine Mode" clicking the small film icon on the bottom left above the storybook.
Click on the 2nd Icon on the top (Movie Reel) and set the audio volume lower or Mute (hit the mute icon). This will affect the original videos audio level (you probably want to mute it).
Click on the Music Icon (2 notes).
Click on the "Add Audio" button and select your mpeg file(s) that you want to use the audio from.
Preview, adjust levels, click OK to return to the timeline.
Save your project.
