V11 download installation problem

Post by rickh »

I am upgrading from V8 to V11. I have downloaded V11+ and started the install process by double cliking on the file videoStudio11Plus-E-Download.exe.
The installation process began ok, I filled out the required fields and left it to do it's thing.

When I returned I found a message that a fatal error had occurred during installation. I checked and found that many files had been unpacked into the default named VS folder. I double clicked on the file vstudio.exe and the program starts up, but when I go to create a video file I only have options for NTSC formats even though in the set up I selected Pal format.

I cannot find a function to uninstall the VS11 to start again, should I just delete the VS11 folder and try to re-install from the original down loaded file?

You should have 3 ESD files, one of them for the content, one the main program, and one the bonus CD. You must install the main and content.

If the install did not go well, then yes I would suggest reinstalling, however I would try doing a complete un-install/re-install. Ulead programs leave a lot of files behind. So just doing a simple add/remove programs from the control panel and then re-installing may not correct some issues. Instructions can be found here : Re-installation of Ulead Products

Ulead does not put a shortcut or uninstaller in the Program Files directory. To uninstall you need to go to the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.

To change your settings when creating a video file, in the Share>Create Video File step, choose Custom, on the Save as dialog select MPEG, then on the Compression tab, you should be able to select in the drop-down menu, PAL DVD. If not then you certainly should reinstall the program.

This is a known problem, which quite a few of us has experienced.
Remove all the files it has created, and then follow these instructions to install it successfully:

VS 11.5 Install Problem

Post by vznx1w »

I have been successfully running VS11 for about 2 weeks and tried to install the updated VS 11.5. Unfortunately, this attempt has destroyed my setup: I have uninstalled VS11 but cannot install VS 11.5. I have performed the REGEDIT CLEAN INSTALL procedure described within the knowledge base on two occasions. I have also tried the US11_HotFix01 update.

However, everytime I begin an install the process stops when the install wizard cannot find a file that it is looking for.
Here's what happens:
- Intiate install
- Transition through screens/popups requiring user feedback (user agreement, name, serial number, program folder location, etc.)
- Video Study color graphics screen launches.
- I hear the CD drive spinup--as if it is looking for a file (but I have no CD because I am working with a download install).

- THE PROCESS THAN STOPS
I then get the following message: [Setup could not find file on specific path please check for proper disk insertion or specify new path. The following file cannot be found: USER/LOCAL/TEMP/pft116.tmp/VideoStudio.msi.]

- A popup appears asking if I want to RETRY or CANCEL.
- Selecting RETRY generates either error 1612 or sometimes error 1628.

I always get the "file cannot be found" message and the location is always the same (USER/LOCAL/TEMP). However, the missing file name is not always consistent: it can be pft116.temp/videostudio.msi. or pftC3.temp/videostudio.msi, or pftD1.temp/videostudio.msi.

I also tried to go back to the TBYB trial version. However, both the TBYB and PURCHASED version of VS11 both exhibit the same install errors.

Thanks, Steve

You say you have "VS11". The Hot Pack will only work with VS11 PLUS version. In other words, you can only upgrade the Plus version to VS11.5+...

Lost Libraries

Post by dennismc »

Hey everyone,

New member but longtime Ulead user. First time visitor and viewer of the forum...and virtually IT illiterate...so be gentle.

I'll try to explain my problem and would appreciate any feedback.
I have been working on a project for my daughters hockey team for about 5 months, capturing clips and placing them in seperate libraries (goals, hits, players names, etc.) .They were quite extensive with many man hours invested. Its now time to pull them together for the year end video.

I have Ulead 11 plus (upgraded from Ulead 8 some time ago). Upon entering the program about a week ago, I was prompted to look at the upgrades and pursued the free upgrade to 11.5, which showed me 3 files to download and install.

I didnt take any steps to preserve my libraries, as I didnt think I had to. Upon downloading and installing the patches, I returned to the program and all my libraries were gone and the program opened up as though it were brand new (no libraries, no avi files showing, etc).

I've been trying to find and restore these libraries but with no luck. Tech support didnt help....and I'm out of options.

Has anyone had this problem and more importantly, does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Unfortunately it does over-right the library files. The only possible way to retrieve them is through a System Restore, but that's not guaranteed to work.

Thanks,

Tried the system restore and it didnt work. I know all the avi. files are on the hard drive,is there any way to work backwards.....ie see if there is a way of determining whether they were linked to certain libraries?

You think they would warn you that the libraries would be wiped out, or am I being naive. In the future, do you know of a way of saving the libraries before upgrading?

thanks again...bad news is better than no news.

VideoSyudio 11 Installation Problem

Post by Sloopjohnb17 »

Help
Everytime I try to load VideoStudio 11, I get an error as follows:
Error 1904 - module C:Program Files\common files\ULEAD Systems\dvsf.ax
failed to register
HRESULT -2147010895 Contact your support personnel
I am running a Dell Inspiron 531 PC with Windows Vista Home Premium. The PC has AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.6 GHz with 2046 MG RAM and ATI Radeon 2400 PRO Display adaptor.

I then tried the alternative method : http://support.corel.com/scripts/rightn ... 1200664975

and had same error.

So I tried another method and tried to install from the Desktop after copying the contents of the CD. Same error.

I have tried all of the suggestions from Corel and it is getting me nowhere. This has included removing all traces of ULEAD from the PC in every directory suggested. I have Admin rights and can load almost every other software! The only other problem I have had with this PC is loading drivers, etc. for a Canon Scanner.

This is the latest from Corel: Any suggestions, please? I am getting desperate.
I am loading software from CD and it works with XP PC at work

The Library files are found (on XP systems) at C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\11.0. There should be *.dat files called: VS_audio, VS_video, VS_title, and VS_Image. Those are the main data files. There are others there for the Color clips, Flash animations, and Decorations.

Even though those are not stored under the customary ~Program Files\Ulead Systems directory, when you do any type of install, repair or Full clean install, VS will replace these "dat" files. These files can be moved to another location on your system prior to reinstalling, then once the reinstall is complete copy them back.
