I have been trialling MF6+ and need some help. I run XP Pro and have been using this program to edit out "Add's" from movies I have recorded from my DVD video recorder. My problems are -
I use Multi-trim to edit the add's and about 50% of the times this works ok, but sometimes I am half way through a film and not sure what happens but suddenly the film strip will start to run away by itself and I cannot seem to stop it and get back to where I last did an add edit. The only way I can seem to stop it is pointing to the Stop button and this stops it I cannot restart the editing feature and the computer locks up. So all my work has been lost! and as I have discovered there is a lot of info lthat I have imported and I guess also the modifications I have done on the film, left in some folder(s) on C: drive that cannot be recovered and I have trouble finding and deleting them.
Questions -
1. can I make my own folder say on my D: drive so that if this happens again I know where to go and delete all this imported and modified info?
2. Using the Multi-trim feature is always open at 15sec intervals, can I pre set this so that it always opens at a second amount that I am more comfortable with?
3. What can I do to stop this frame racing out of control problem that finally locks my computer up?

Hi,
1. You can change your working folder in the preferences menu > general tab. (Press F6)
2. You can edit the interval time in multi-trim in the quick search interval in the multi-trim dialog box.
3. As for your third problem, all I can suggest is to try a clean re-installation of your trial version. Or better yet, why don't you consider upgrading to a full version. =D

A lot of us have had trouble editing MPEGs. (As you may know, DVDs are MPEG-2). There may be some work-arounds, but I now use Womble to edit MPEGs. If you don't need any "fancy" transitions VideoReDo is a good "cut & splice" MPEG editor. (I still use Ulead to Import DVDs to MPEG, and for DVD authoring & burning.)
Ummmm... I don't recommend handing-over your money if the trial version doesn't work for you.
Or better yet, why don't you consider upgrading to a full version.

I can only second DVDDoug's comment, if the trial doesn't work for you, invariably you are going to have the same problems with the full version. Trial versions are, essentially, full versions but with some limitations applied to stop people from cracking the trial time limit.
The problem you describe looks to me like OS related. Somehow, the advancing of the clip in the time line gets stuck, causing the whole file to be loaded into the memory, thereby locking your OS out of vital resources. Would be interesting to know if, eventually, the OS would come good again after it has been able to clear the buffers etc.

- Mouse button stuck3. What can I do to stop this frame racing out of control problem that finally locks my computer up?
- Keyboard key stuck ( coffee spilled on it? )
- ServicePack2 not installed (XP-SP2)
- Deactivate windows sticky keys if activated
- You could be holding the mouse button down to long causing repeats (buffer buildups), the video cannot keep up to these repeats. If you are holding the mouse button down while hitting the forward icon then try not holding it down. Use the Scroll Bar instead of the arrow key to seek through the movie.
Also you may have special mouse or keyboard enhancement programs that interact with your keyboard/mouse to assist with other software programs. Sometimes when you leave the mouse button down over 2 or 3 seconds it stays down until you hit a release key. If these programs are loaded see if they can be de-activated or fine tuned..
