Is there a way to batch convert, or batch encode several projects at once without going thru the Make Disk option ? I don't use VS to make the disks (use another program)
I'm working with several projects (5-10), and so far, the only way to do it would have to output each one to either DV or MPEG (they are a mix of 4x3 and 16x9 video so it's the only way to preserve the aspect ratio of each individual clip). But I would rather do this overnight...
These projects are actually a mix of video and other VS projects imported on an overlay track...
Can 11 do this (before I jump on it) ? My specs are not quite there yet and a new system won't be in for several months. I know 11 would want a few more mhzs...
Thanks...
Oh - forgot I never entered my specs, but it's an old P4 1.8Ghz, with 1GB RAM...
Batch convert or encode multiple projects ?

Hi
That¡¦s an interesting question.
Video Studio has a Batch Convert option under ¡¥Tools¡¦
I assumed this to work on video files (mpegs, avi¡¦s etc) but not projects. *.VSP¡¦s
But I have just successfully added a project to the ¡¥batch converter¡¦ and completed the convert.
There should be no reason why you cannot add more than one Vsp.
The only limitation being to convert all to one set of properties, which you have to set (press the options button) you would have to keep your 4:3 and 16:9¡¦s separate.
It should work, let us know how you get on.

Wow - just tried again a sample test project and it works, though not how I wished it would unfortunately. My projects include other projects in the overlay track. And I get a 'File Format Mismatch' error.trevor andrew wrote:Hi

Basically, what I do this:
a) create a 4x3 project with my video, transitions, titles
b) create a new 16x9 project with a moving flash animation
c) Import the 4x3 project in the overlay track
This works out great. The 4x3 video shows in the middle, with a flash animation on the sides, instead of black bars.
But I have to do one at a time, in AVI DV or MPEG. Other option is to batch encode to AVI DV the 4x3 project first, and then import it into the 16x9 project, but I would encode it twice...
So, not sure if it's an issue of each project being different aspect ratio, or that it's a project within a project...
TIA...

Hi su_A_ve
I have just used the same process to create a Slide Show, the 4:3 being the ¡¥show¡¦ with 16:9 as the background. good effect.
What are the properties of the 4:3 source video? You should try to keep these intact.
If you start with Dv-Avi then render to Dv-Avi.
If using Mpeg2 maintain these properties, there is no benefit in converting Mpeg to Dv-Avi, (unless you wish to export to camcorder)
Use the same properties for 16:9 as 4:3 (with the exception of the aspect ratio.)
'File Format Mismatch' error
I suspect this to be due to using project within project.
I will run a test with two projects in the batch convert. (doesn¡¦t work)
I rendered 4:3 to Dv-Avi then imported to 16:9 overlay, the project batch converted ok.
I do not use the option of importing a project to another project, I ran a test creating a slide show, the quality seemed to deteriorate. Found better quality by rendering out.
If you use batch convert you cannot use project within project.
Batch convert your 4:3¡¦s before adding to overlay, then batch convert the projects.
But I like the idea to batch convert projects, thanks for that.
