Short Play / Long Play

Post by malone63 »

Hi All,

I have in the past, always used SP mode.

Then I have have converted to MPEG2 and rendered to DVD.

Just wondering if I used LP Mode, apart from allowing me to use my MiniDV tapes to the max:

Would it in any way affect the size of the MPEG2 ?

Is quality affected ?

Infact exactly what would be affected?

thanks !!

Is quality affected ? I would think so but have never actually tried it. Tapes are cheap enough these days to aim for highest possible quality at all times

Infact exactly what would be affected?

thanks !!

I only use my Mini DV tapes in SP mode but....
A few years ago I converted not just my own collection of VHS tapes but also several of friends and family - several hundred in fact.

There was a noticeable degradation of quality when dealing with tapes that had been recorded in Long Play. Hope this helps.
