Green screen

Post by tltony »

I'm using the trial video8. I get random green screens, that last a few seconds or more. What's happening?

When are you getting the green screen? If it is while playing back a video, and always in the same spot, the file is likely damaged.

It seems to be random and some times move around from clip to clip. Sometimes the green screen appears on the thumbnail and some times not. When I open the project for the first time, all clips will sometimes show properly. Then as soon as I do any editing, they will start to green out. Once the green screens appear, I can move them around by going to diffrent functions, but not be able to get rid of them all.

It might be your DirectX installation or the video card driver. You need DirectX 9 or later, and a stable (preferably WHQL) video driver for your card. An integrated video solution (no separate video card) that shares main memory with the rest of the system may not have enough memory to handle UVS, or require you to allocate more memory for video.

Thanks for your time. I want to buy the program but didn't want to if this was going to be a cronic problem.

Your first step should be to make sure that your computer meets the System Requirements for UVS V8. Also be aware that UVS V9 has already be announced, and while I cannot imagine that the requirements are much more demanding than they are today, it could well be that support for Windows 98 and ME got dropped, for instance.

That being said, I do not recall anyone else reporting this problem before.

I updated Directx from 8 to 9 . It seems to have fixed the problem. Thankyou.
