VS11 and HDV - Q on HDV Output & Can it handle 1080/25p

Post by jmone »

I have a Canon HV20 (PAL) and have two questions regading VS11:

1) Under "Share > Create Video File > HDV " you have two set of options for 1080/50i - one with "For HDV", the other with "For PC" - what is the difference (if any)

2) I can also shoot 1080/25p (inside a 1080/50i HDV format) but there does not seem to be a coresponding template. Can VS handle 1080/25p?

Thanks

The difference between the 2 templates is the top one creates a TS (transport stream) format file and the bottom one creates a PS (program stream) file.
You would normally use the PS format (for PC) template.
But make sure to check the "Mpeg Optimizer' and accept what the mpeg optimizer displays to export correctly. When you select these templates if you look in the lower left hand box the encoding parameters are displayed.

Thanks etech6335. I've had more of a play and can confirm that:
1) My codec's like the PS Format (for PC) better :D
2) VS handles the 25p content inside the 50i container just fine :D
