Minimum screen resolution for MovieFactory 6 Plus

Post by m_l »

Hello,

I have just installed the German version of MovieFactory 6 Plus. After having solved some bluescreen problems and disappeared disc burners I am now facing the problem that the MovieFactory refuses to start with the following error message: "Set your screen resolution to 1280 x 1024".
The system requirements on the box and on the web page say that a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 is sufficient (there even is no recommendation for a higher screen resolution).

My screen has a resolution of 1152 x 864. My 17" CRT is not really capable of 1280 x 1024.
So: How do I get the software running with the recommended screen resolution?

My system environment:
Windows XP Professional, SP 2
Graphics card: Matrox G450

Thanks in advance,
Markus

Its true that DMF 6+ only requires 1024x768 px. I have a few facts that I think could be related with your problem:

-Check your original video clip's properties. (Its resolution)
-Make sure you have the most updated version of your video card's driver. You can visit their website for the most updated driver of your hardware.
-Try clean re-installing the software. The procedure can be found here: http://www.explorecommerce.com/members/ ... 31&ID=9827

Hope this would help. =)

I have checked my available screen resolutions and the one you are using
1152 x 864 comes AFTER 1024 x 768. Go to your display properties and double check what you have available.

In order of lowest to highest mine are:

800 x 600
1024 x 768
1152 x 864
1280 x 720
120 x 768
1280 x 960
1280 x 1024

This is somewhat confusing with MF6+, possibly a bug maybe.

This is how MF6+ is working on my system, should also work the same on yours.

My screen resolution is 1024x768:
If I start MF6+ from the launcher screen I'll receive the same error as you do stating please set the screen resolution to 1280x720.
To work around this don't launch MF6+ from the launcher screen, use the direct link from the start menu to launch MF6+, "Ulead DVD Movie Factory 6". Choose your video format and run the program.

I usually run a screen resolution of 1280x1024 and didn't come across this 1280x720 issue until running the program on another system.

Thank you all for your help. It seems that MovieFactory 6+ does not support a screen resolution of 1152x864. With this screen resolution I get the "set resolution to 1280x720" error message when I launch the "Ulead DVD Movie Factory 6" application from the launcher screen and also from the start menu.

When I set the screen resolution to 1024x768, then MovieFactory can be started properly from the launcher screen and from the start menu.

So there is no difference in the behaviour on my system for the launcher screen and the start menu.

I did not check the 1024x768 resolution because the error message confused me.
Anyway: Thank you for giving me a hint to get a workaround! But: It's a pity that MovieFactory does not support the 1152x864 screen resolution. At least the error message should give a better hint (e.g. "1152x864 is not supported").
