Problem with VS11 saying home movie are copy writed
I have recently upgrded from vs7 to vs11+ because i was having "dragging" issues when I converted analog to digital. When I capture the same analog videos as I did with vs7 the vs11+ tells me these videos are copy-writed. Sometimes it tells me immediately sometimes after 1 1/2 hours or so of captured video. The videos are home videos. I skimmed through the manual but could not find anything on copy-writed material. Any ideas?

System Info There
I have filled in the system info. I am using an AIRKLINK 101 device to transfer standard VHS tape from my VCR to my computer. The VS7 software was included in the box when I purchased the software. When I expirienced the dragging problem that was when I decided to up grade to VS11+.
Sometimes, old poor-quality tapes will trigger the Macrovision protection. Not all capture devices have the Macrovision detection circuitry, but apparently your AIRLINK device does. (The Macrovision signal is first detected by the hardware. The hardware circuitry can then scramble the signal, as happens with a VCR, and/or the driver can send a message to the software.)
A different VCR might give better results...
You could try a video stablizer such as The Clarifier, but there is no gaurantee that this will work with your tapes.
My Hauppauge card seems to ignore Macrovision, but I don't know if that's true of all Hauppauge cards/devices (they don't advertise it) and I don't know if it would solve your particular problem...

Thanks
Thanks for the info, DVDDoug. Maybe I'll try a different VCR, I have a feeling by the time I convert these videos I could have taken them to a professional and gotten them done cheaper
Anyone have any idea why I would have the problem in VS11+ and not in VS7? I am a novice when it comes to this stuff, but I was afraid it was something they added into to the program!?!
Thanks again for the help. At least now I'm pretty sure the problem is not me

I know nothing about the Airlink device. However, it is common for companies that make such devices to tweak the software they supply with it only to work with their device. That is possibly what happened with the VS7 SE that came with the device.
In such cases, it is not the fault of the software company that makes VS that subsequent editions do not work with the device. The hardware company simply refuses to share the information.
In such cases, we usually suggest to people they continue to capture using the software that came with the device (in this case VS7 SE), but then import that video into the later edition of VS for editing.
