Error during install: ACCESS IS DENIED: isusweb.dll

Post by lkingston »

I am trying to instal PhotoImpact 12. I get the following error message at the end of the installation:
________________________________________________

The following files did not self-register or unregister:

1. C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\isusweb.dll
Access is denied

To continue, click OK; otherwise, click Cancel
________________________________________________

If I click "continue" I can use PhotoImpact 12, but I can't install the content packs or Cool 360 because their installation routines can't see that PhotoImpact 12 is actually installed.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Try
Start | Run
in the RUN dialog box put
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\isusweb.dll

If it still fails then do a search for isusweb.dll
probably located in your Windows\System32 directory and alter the path accordingly.
Example - if it is found in C:\Windows\System 32 you would enter
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\isusweb.dll

If I try the registering using the first suggestion:

REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\isusweb.dll

I get the following error message:

LoadLibrary(C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded") failed - The specified module could not be found.

This makes sense because the dll "isusweb.dll" is not in that folder.

If I do a search for "isusweb.dll", the nearest thing I can find is this:

isusweb.dll.C#A146F5_4BG48_A819_00B0D0428C0C

which appears in the PhotoImpact 12 installation files. The actual dll is not on my system. I checked with a friend who has several Ulead programs running including PhotoImpact 12, and he doesn't have a copy of "isusweb.dll" on his system either.

I've tried a lot of things so far. I've tried installing in "safe mode". I've tried disabling my virus protection and firewall. I've tried a system restore back to my earliest settings backup. I've tried all the suggestions at the following link (and the second page it links to):

http://support.installshield.com/kb/vie ... id=Q111057

So far nothing works.

isusweb.dll is part of the InstallShield Update Service Web Agent.

Looking over those links, they look like they would be very useful for Ulead to help track down problems with their Macrovision install routines. There doesn't seem to be anything there though that can help an end user such as myself to get this software installed and running. Any ideas how I can get PhotoImpact installed correctly and running?

The problem is definately related to the Macrovision installer. When I Google the error message, I get all sorts of hits from a wide variety of programs that use the Macrovision install routines. None of them seem to have any solutions though.

OK, I'm up and running now. I installed and ran lolo System Mechanic. Afterwards, I still got the same isusweb.dll error message, but when I tried to install the content packs and Cool 360, they now installed. I must have had something somewhere fouled up in my registry or something.
