Chapters not returning to Top Menu

I have captured a home movie from VHS tape to DVD via Hauppauge WinTV150PVR and Ulead MF3 using `Create VCD` and manually added chapters. When I use the completed DVD on the PC it works fine, however when used in a Toshiba Home DVD Player with a TV, whilst in midst of viewing the first chapter if I press `Top Menu` button on DVD remote , the DVD does return to the Top Menu, but not if done with the other chapters, the DVD `hangs` and gives a `Disk Error`. Any ideas anyone ?
