HDV plugin
Has anyone tried capturing with the HD-2 plugin ? I use a Sony and a JVC camcorders, and it doesn't seem to be straightforward, especially since I cannot find an operating manual for this plugin.

You can find the manual here:
http://www.ulead.com/msp/documents.htm
Though I believe version 2.0 may turn off SmartRender, when you mix footage from different sources in MSP (titles, etc) they need to be rerendered so usually SmartRender has to be turned off otherwise the camera may not take the transport stream file.

You have obviously downloaded Service Pack 3 for MSP7gareth@supergraphics wrote:Message to Johnpr98
I would like to know what hardware you are using, as I cannot get the HDV 2 plug-in to work with my Sony HDV FX1 camera. It try's to work but I get message 'failed to build a preview graph' any idea what's wrong.
PC 3mhz hyperthreading
Ram 1g
Disc 200mb
Matrox G550
best
This completely kills your HD Plug in
Uleads only comment so far is to download the HD Manual from
Ftp:ftp//ulead.com/pub/Manual/MSP7/msp7hdplugin ntsc.zip
which does not seem to exist
Your only hope is to UNINSTALL all your ULEAD products
Use the search function on Windows explorer set to find "ULEAD"
Delete "ALL Occurrences" and reload all your ULEAD products with MSP7 stopping at Service pack 2
You will loose all your presets for everything but it will at least work
Service pack 3 was supposed to fix this exact problem with a MATROX card but has now stuffed the rest of us as usual if you have a problem like this and you arte not a high flyer in the VIDEO INDUSTRY too bad
I am really starting to become ****** off to put it mildly
The manual will not fix the problem of the program not initiiating
Sorry ULEAD you really need to get your act together as do all the the video editing programs
This is now starting to cost people money without any recourse to a refund or are they prepared to refund my VISA for HD plug in they have now stuffed
sorry for the expletives but I get angry when I am directed to a manual and treated like an idiot

If SP3 killed your capture and you are getting the "failed to build preview graph" message then most likely one or more of the DirectShow files in SP3 did not get registered. Using the Command Prompt cd to Program Files->Common Files->Ulead Systems->MPEG directory and reregister the 9 .ax files using the regsvr32 command. That took care of the problem for me.

Fixed the CAPTURE Problem but still cannot transfer data back to the CameraBrian Conrad wrote:If SP3 killed your capture and you are getting the "failed to build preview graph" message then most likely one or more of the DirectShow files in SP3 did not get registered. comes up with "Unable to load correct DV Driver", this would be OK if you only wanted to go to DVD but why use this path When the Sony HDR FX1 does a realtime transcode to DV 720x576 from a HDV Tape ready for DVD and much easier to manage
My problem is the TV Stations in Australia will only accept HDV so I also need to get it back to the camera
Thank all the same the rest of the problem is probably related

Frozen Frames
Just thought I would add this one for anyone with the problem
FROZEN FRAMES on playback
If you use the "High Quality Playback" and generate "Preview Files" with the HDV PLug in "STILL FRAMES" will appear approx 2/3 to 3/4 into the clip and will be transferred to any "Output" file produced!
Therte are 2 ways to elimiate this
1) Delete all the "Preview Files" and let MSP Transcode or make the Output File or
2) Cut the clip at the begining of the Frozen Frames and then look further into the clip for more after regenerating "NEW" previews and do the same again
Makes the Timeline look like a swiss cheese
Clips shorter than 2 secs seem immune
I prefer no1 - Much Quicker

This sounds like another problem which has been reported here before. The cameras do not like footage that is just remuxed! I learned this long before Ulead came out with the HD Plugin trying to get the JVC to take footage that I had remuxed using Womble. The camera would take it only if it was all JVC footage but with 3D animations it would not take. The footage must be re-rendered so make sure that SmartRender is turned off when you render the M2T (transport stream file).

DV PLUG IN Unable to Capture and Return to Camera "SOLV
PROBLEM is TWO Fold
1) If you have downloaded and added either Service Pack 1 or 2 and then add 3 it kills the HDV Plug in
I am now back where I should have been
The other is one of the files in SP3 does not get registered
Remedy is as follows
First Copy the folling file to a safe place
prjtmpMPEG.dat, savetemp.dat and prjtmpAVI.dat from
C:\Documents and Settings\(YOUR USER NAME)\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead Media Studio Pro\7.0 Folder
Uninstall Media Studio Pro from "Control Panel<>Add or Remove Programs"
Delete the Following FOLDERS
C:\Documents and Settings\(YOUR USER NAME)\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead Media Studio Pro\7.0
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead Media Studio Pro 7.0
Restart your computer
Follow this order implicitly
Load MSP
Load MSP Service Pack 3
Load the HDV Plugin
Go to the start menu <Programs><Accessories<>Command Prompt
You will be in the "C:\Documents and Settings\(YOUR USER NAME)
type cd\ to return to the route directory
type cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG
type regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\MPEG\ulDVDAudio.ax"
A message will appear that the registration was successful if it tells you it failed the typing was incorrect and try again
type EXIT
Restart your computer and you should be in business
Hope this helps

The files
prjtmpAVI.dat, prjtmpMPEG.dat and savetemp.dat you save to a safe place copy them back to
C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Media Studio Pro\7.0 directory
They are all your presets for the projects and saving you files and once lost I have no idea how to revover them
Best of luck
