No vid capture "no common media type between pins"

Post by roamer »

Hi,

I just installed a Firewire card and Video Studio5 on my machine. I can control my Panasonic PV-DV53 camcorder from Video Studio just fine. I can watch my video on the Video Studio screen.

I click capture, and the capture timer starts, and the camcorder starts, but when I stop capture, I get this message:

"There is no common media type between these pins. The captured file cannot be inserted into the timeline. File may be corrupt. Do you want to delete this file?"

My machine is an Athlon 1800+ w/512 ram, 40 GB HD, Radion 7500 vid card, Firewire card with VIA chipset. I tried swapping the Firewire card to a different slot, but that did nothing.

I would really appreciate any help.

There is no point in moving the FireWire card around, this is a software problem.

What is happening is that the data being captured is run through a number of different filters on its way to becoming an AVI file, and either the data being sent by the camcorder is in an incompatible format, or a filter is missing or not installed.

Are you capturing in DV AVI format, or are you using something else?

Just encountered this now. Have captured through Firewire from my Sony HC22E and can edit the raw AVI ok. When I go to make an MPEG from this, I get: "There is no common media type between these pins." [17128:1:4] This appears on an OK button with no other options.

Now, if it's captured ok, can't understand what's going on? Being as though I've edited the file as well, I'm not best pleased this has only come up now :(

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
