Video stops playing in editor

Post by Sillysoft »

I am creating a football highlight reel that shows varies plays throughout the year. What Im doing for each clip is playing the clip in the editor, pausing it then take a screenshot, highlight the player in the image and cut the video where I paused it at. Then put the still image between the two.

Anyway after completing this project, about 50 plays, I exported it to mpg to watch and saw some plays I wanted to delete. So via the video editor for VideoStudio I deleted the video and the still images that I didnt want. Now a strange problem has occured. When it goes over this one specific image it starts to show the image then the whole video stops, like someone clicked stop. Even the music stops. I click play and it will play for another 2 seconds and stop again. I go to the next clip and it works just fine, but everytime I hit that one image the whole movie just stops.

I tried re-adding the image, creating a new image, even rebooted the computer. Still same problem. I tried to export the movie to any file format and it exports up to that same point and just stops. No error message and the file never exports. Any suggestions? Using VideoStudio10.

Thanks

If I understand what you are saying, the problems only happened when you tried to edit the MPEG? Was your original format AVI/DV?

It's best if you can avoid editing MPEGs. (The more compressed the format, the more likely you are to have trouble.) Some people are able to edit MPEGs and some of us have had trouble with them. I ended-up buying a special-purpose MPEG editor.

Sorry for the delay in response, was out of town. Anyway now it happens on fresh new projects I work on. What Im doing is taking DVD's the league makes and importing them via the movie maker part of ulead, there it puts it into mpeg format. Then I simply slice out the plays I want and edit them via the Ulead movie editor. So yes all the clips are in mpeg format. I try to play it in the editor and it just freezes after a certain point and that point is different on each new project I do. I then try to export it into mpeg format and it gets to that same point and just stops exporting. No error, its like I hit escape or something.

In this new project I now get a critical system error when exporting as AVI after 30% completed. I get a lot of critical system errors now all over the place. I think Ulead has become buggy for me on my XP system. I dont have any problems in any other application.

Here is a screenshot of the property box of one of the clips:
