text wrapping along spline path

Post by punchbuggy66 »

Ok, I am taking an online college class for PhotoImpact and one of the tutorials had us draw a curved path with the spline tool and then click on object/wrap/add text to path. well my PI ver. 10.0 Has NO wrap command under object or even on the right click menu. i can type the text and then apply a wrap from the gallery, but that is not how i am supposed to be doing the assignment. Does anybody have any idea why i don't have the wrap command under the object menu?? My teacher told me to check my workspace options which are either basic or standard and i have it set on standard. Obviously, i have checked all the menus and can't find the wrap command anywhere. I looked it up on help and it says to click on object/wrap..but alas i have no wrap command there.

I have done this during the beginners workshop in PI 10 but I can't remember where it differed from this tut http://wwell.net/tutorials/pi8/textoncurve/index.html. It surely wasn't that much different.

Unfortunately, with new versions, Ulead tend to shift things around in the menus and/or call things different names.

Unfortunately I don't have PI 10 installed on any of my current machines and can't give you any pointers. One thing though, in PI 12, the "Object" menu has the "Wrap" option still. I know it is there in PI 10. You'll just have to find it.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I have searched high and low for that wascally wabbit "wrap" command and have yet to discover where it's hiding. The tutorials we are using are similar to the link you posted, and like I said previously I comprehend exactly what I am supposed to do, it's just not there. I found one section in the help files that says the wrap command IS under the object menu. I am starting to think that the software I bought online is not a legal copy because I tried to register it with ULead and it says that serial # is already used. If it is illegal maybe it is corrupted or incomplete in some way. I don't know if that is possible or not. Anyways, thanks for trying to help me out! :-)

Don't know what might be causing this. In PI 12 the "Wrap" command is available under the "Object" menu even if there is no image open yet. I don't think it was difficult to locate it in PI 10 either.

Where did you buy this version of yours on-line?

I would download a trial version from the ULEAD site and try it with that.

I had a copy of PI 10 installed on my laptop.

You need to have an image open to find the wrap function

Just click on this thumbnail to see a larger image. Wrap is the 3rd available option down. Ctrl+W is the keyboard shortcut for it.

Well, I guess that settles that. My PI does not have the wrap command. It really steams me that people are selling corrupted/illegal copies of this program. I guess I should have known there was something fishy since I got it so cheap. I wonder if there is anything I can do about it. Oh well, thanks anyways for your time and help.

I can't understand how that can be missing but take your word for it. If I were in your shoes I would download the trial version of PI 12 now in order to finish my assignments.

Nothing is stopping you from buying the full version if you like it. Just don't try to be a cheapskate again and buy something dubious on the internet. Yours might be poorly hacked pirated version. The cost of this program does not warrant the risks involved.
