I was running DMF 5 OEM with no problems and decided to upgrade to DMF 6Plus.
Ordered Upgrade and installed it.
On Rebooting, I got the Blue Screen of Death with
cdr4_xp.sys and the message
Driver unloaded without canceling pending operations.
I was able to contine by chosing "restart from last good checkpoint"
Things I have tried.
1) Uninstall and reinstall - same error
2) Only reference to cdr4_xp on google was related to ROXIO
so I uninstalled ROCIO Creater which was an OEM version that came with the system. Then reinstalled. Same problem.
3) Uninstalled DMF 5 OEM. Reinstalled DMF 6+ using the repair option.
same problem
Running out of ideas...
Reboot after install - Blue Screen cdr4_xp.sys
Maybe Roxio has left some software or drivers behind after un-installing. The software from Roxio that will conflict is the "Drag 2 Disk" software and drivers.
Another program may also have replaced the XP_SP2 drivers with their own or an updated driver.
On my XP_SP2 system the drivers that are loaded are
C:\WINDOWS\sytem32\Drivers\cdrom.sys
C:\WINDOWS\sytem32\Drivers\imapi.sys
C:\WINDOWS\sytem32\Drivers\redboot.sys
C:\WINDOWS\sytem32\storprop.dll
I would re-install ServicePack 2.

Problem with cdr4_xp.sys solved
Thanks for the reply.
I have spent many hours on the problem and made some progress.
I found an update from Roxio that installed a new version of cdr4_xp.sys. That got me by the BSOD but my system would then not recognize either of my DVD drive either the RO and RW one.
I flailed around for hours doing things that did not help, uninstalled all of the DVD software on the system,
Finally I found a Microsoft knowledgebase entry http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/en-us
that gave instructions for modifing the registry and that did the trick.
I never did get Movie Factory to work but right now, I am happy just to have a healthy system again.

How about trying the clean re-installation procedure:

Maybe it could help you to make DMF work at the same time you get to keep your healthy system.
