Using Ulead Video Studio 7, I have been trying yo render an avi file to VCD.
The image is fine (better then pristine) however, when I try to play it on my DVD player (which is VCD capable) the sound drops out of sync by about 5 to 10 seconds.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

AVI to VCD Sound Sinc Problems

What are the properties of your "AVI" file? Where did it come from? Can you re-capture it in a less-compressed format?
An AVI file can contain video with any type of compression, and I'll bet it's a highly-compressed format. (i.e. People who use AVI/DivX report lots of trouble.)
You can try using a 3rd-party program such as SUPER (FREE!!!) to convert your files to VCD compatable MPEG-1 You can look at one of the Movie Factory Project-Templates to find the settings (resolution, framerate, bitrate, etc) for a VCD-compatible MPEG-1 file.
Your file probably has a small glitch (data corruption). (I call it "sneaky corruption" when a file plays OK, but causes trouble when you try to edit or convert it.)
For example, you may have a video frame with some invalid data. It might not even show-up when you play it back. If that bad video-frame is thrown-away during conversion but the associated audio remains, you will get a sync problem. (That's probably not exactly what's happening, its just an example of what could happen.)
P.S.
I assume you don't have a DVD burner. In case you are not aware, you can get a DVD burner for about the price of two music CDs! (Example: NewEgg.com). If you can afford the $30, if you have a desktop (not a laptop), and if you can install it (or if you know someone who can install it), it is well worth stepping-up to DVD. (But, that will NOT solve your sync problem.)
