Title-safe is KILLING me!

Post by BrownKnows »

OK, working hard on a graduation video for a family member. about 6 minutes long. Left a small margin around the edge of the 720x480 screen for title-safe.

Last night I burned a DVD and see that 80% of the pictures are off the screen on at least one edge when played on a TV. What are the guidlines for image size to account for title-safe on a TV screen?

Thanks,

Thanks Heinz. Do you have any actual X Y size numbers I can plug into moving path? From your percentages, I get:

720x480 screen = 648x432 (10%)
720x480 screen = 612x408 (15%)

Does this sound right?

No, 720 - 2 x 72 and 480 - 2 x 48 = 576 x 384

It took me 25mins to put together this:

Stick it on a DVD and see exactly what your TV lets you get away with. Note that you'll get different results with most TVs, but if you get one that's particularly bad, it will be bad for everything, so the owners will be used to it.
