still image capture problem

Post by ebone »

I've searched through the forums and found out how to capture a still image from video thru msp8 and also the capture portion.

problem is no matter which I use the captured pic does not match the source aspect ratio.

I've tried opening a 16:9 vid in 16: and captruing. I've tried opening 16x9 as 4:3 and capturing...4:3 as 4:3 and 4:3 as 16:9. I've tried capturing from "capture" portion of program,etc,etc.

No matter what it either squishes the image in and makes everyone look tall or stretches it out and makes them short and fat. It seems to do the opposite of what I attempt to correct.

Am I missing something?

What you seem to be missing is the fact that video pixels are not square like image pixels and the standard frame size is not really 4:3 or 16:9 in px : px. It only appears like that on TV. 16:9 NTSC can also be 720 x 480 pixels and 720 x 576 can be 16:9 in PAL.

Ok, so how do I capture still pics without the people looking like they're in front of a funhouse mirror?

I just set up a P&Z filter at 100% start and end, then copy it to all the image clips.
