Quick Editing Question

Post by astrovideo »

Could someone tell me how to do the following please?:

Cut to different clips while the audio from the main clip remains uninterrupted. For example, I'd like to have a clip of a person narrating a story, and durring the narration, I'd like to cut to several other clips without any breaks in the audio portion of the narration clip.

I am using version 7.

Thank you.

Using v7 will be a great challenge because that version did not have overlay tracks.

The hard way: first split the audio from your main clip (right click on the clip, choose Split Audio). That mutes the audio on the video clip and puts the audio in the Audio/Music track. Now you will have to slice and dice your main video and insert the bits from the other clips. Make sure the clips you insert are of the same length as the bits you removed, to keep the audio/video in sync.

The easy way: upgrade to v11. It has overlay tracks and you would simply put your other clips anywhere you want over your main track. No slicing and dicing, no splitting audio, no sync problems.
