Unseekable MPEG-2 files

Post by nitefallz »

I have a problem similar to the one posted in this thread - http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... light=seek

I'm taking files recorded in MCE 2005 (dvr-ms) and editing out commercials and then re-encoding. The final file is not seekable in WMP or Media Center, but here's the funny part: Before I encoded the entire file I cut the first 10 seconds out and tried different encoding methods to see which results I liked best. This encoded mpeg2 file WAS seekable in both MCE and WMP. So why wouldn't the entire video be?

I've checked the project settings and they're the same as the source, no luck.

Edit: Using VS 10

I have no clue why Video Studio sometimes creates (apparently) corrupted MPEGs. But, from the post you linked to:

The file may not be corrupted but captured as a streaming type of mpeg file similar to the transport stream.
Ulead should fix this when you render to a new file.
