I'm interested in Video Studio 11 +. My computer stats are listed below, are they enough to run Studio 11 + ? My camcorder of choice will be a Canon HV20.
Thank you

You could have checked with the Ulead website
but your specs look OK to me.
Mind you, I find that RAM figure (960 MB) a little strange. And even 1 GB of RAM night be just a tad on the light side, depending on how much of it is used by your NVidia card.
I have a Core 2 Duo 2 GHZ machine with an NVidia Go7600 graphics card can came with 256 MB of its own RAM. But it still uses another 256MB of system RAM. Nevertheless, the computer happily runs both Vista Home Premium and VS11+.

I did look at the Ulead site but I was not sure of the comparison they made between the Intel p4 and what I have for system requirements. My graphics card NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE Graphics with TurboCache supporting up to 256MB shared video memory is what I found on the HP site so i still don't know if that's going to be enough or OK to run 11+. I also looked at my system properties again and it is still at 960 MB for RAM. I do appreciate your reply, advice and patience. I'm still very interested in selecting Ulead for my needs and if my system can keep up with it.Ken Berry wrote:You could have checked with the Ulead websitebut your specs look OK to me.

Simply put, you're system is more powerful than mine and it works fine on my system.
The reason you have 960MB RAM is that some of it is used by your video card. If you have 1GB of RAM physically installed then you are only allocating 40MB Ram to your video card. That might not affect your video work too much but you can always adjust the level - usually in your system BIOS.

Thank you Sir for your reply, I feel confident with your input and advice. I pulled up my system summary.sjj1805 wrote:Simply put, you're system is more powerful than mine and it works fine on my system.

Total physical memory 1,024 MB
Available physical 514.63 MB
Total virtual memory 2.00 GB
Available virtual memory 1.96 GB
I'm going to school myself today and learn what I can about adjusting the level in my system BIOS if need be. This is all new territory for me to explore and I do appreciate you taking the time to explain the big picture to me. I also hope I haven't drifted too far off topic offending any viewers with my questions.
Thank you

Recommended Video card for VS11+
I sort of see the answer to my question in the posts above, but I am looking to build/buy a computer for video editing, and it looks like VS11+ might be the right program for now, but I don't really know what video card I should put into the system.
Any recommendations appreciated.
Thanks...

What video card
Hi,
I think those that would know the answer to your video card question would have to see more info in your profile re motherboard and processor for instance. regards Ken

You can see from the above that for non-proxy High Definition Editing you require a 16X PCI ExpressTM display adapter.System Requirements
For general and Proxy HDV Editing
¡P Intel® Pentium® 4 or higher
¡P Microsoft® Windows® XP SP2 Home Edition/Professional, Windows® XP Media Center Edition, Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows® Vista
¡P 512 MB of RAM or higher (1 GB of RAM may be recommended depending on the video capture device used)
¡P 1 GB of available hard disk space for program installation
¡P Windows-compatible sound card (multi-channel sound card for surround sound support recommended)
¡P Windows-compatible CD-ROM for installation
Non-Proxy HDV editing
¡P Intel® Pentium® 4 3.0 GHz or higher with Hyper-Threading technology
¡P Microsoft® Windows® XP (Service Pack2 for HDV camcorder support recommended)
¡P 1 GB of RAM (2GB or more recommended)
¡P 16X PCI ExpressTM display adapter
Input/Output Device Support
¡P 1394 FireWire cards for use with DV/D8/HDV*/AVCHD* camcorders
¡P Support for OHCI Compliant IEEE-1394 and 1394 Adaptec 8940/ 8945
¡P Analog capture cards for analog camcorders (VFW & WDM support for XP and BDA support for Vista)
¡P Analog and Digital TV capture device (BDA support)
¡P USB capture devices, PC cameras, and DVD/hard drive camcorders
¡P Windows® compatible HD DVD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-RAM or CD-R/RW drive
¡P Apple iPod with video*, Sony PSP*, WMV Pocket PC, WMV Smartphone, Nokia Mobile phone, Microsoft Zune
* Plus version
In the DV-to-DVD Wizard, if you plan to capture and burn an hour of DV tape, it is recommended that you have at least 20GB of available hard drive space.
If you have an older video card then VideoStudio will still work but you would have to use proxy editing when dealing with High Definition.
For standard Video your older card will also work providing that it meets the following requirements:
Windows-compatible display with at least 1024x768 resolution
VGA display card setting: 24-Bit true color or above is recommended
