All I want is a title and Credits

Post by ruggy1 »

I don't want moving menus and colourful backgrounds, all I want is a simple text title menu and a text credits, each with video effects for my current project. I can get them in Windows Moviemaker, which is not configurable regarding bit rates etc, plus it does not output to DVDs. Anyone know how to do it in MF4?

You can quite easily add text overlays to your video in DMF4. Just go to the Enhance Video screen, click the Text tab, double click on the preview window and type in your text . Don't think that much is available regarding video effects though.

Thanks very much for your comments, but I need a separate title and a separate credits not an overlay, I don't think that DVDMF can do it.

you may wish to select a solid colour background for your titles. i am unsure, however, to create a rolling-credits effect w/ VS8.

alternatively, you can edit your works as you desire using Windows Movie Maker, then export to your DV Camera, then capture it with VS8 for DVD creation.

Titles

Open a new project ( I use video studio 7 as a matter of choice but they are all pretty similar)
go straight to title
Select backrgound color and extend it to the time you want your credits to run.
open animation; select how you want your titles to run (start bottom, finish top etc.) click enable animation.
Click the text button, types your text (you can change font, color etc. )
Add music if required. Again extend text (and in all probability reduce music) to time you want it to be visable/audible, I would recomend you finish text 1 to 2 seconds before the color.
go to finish, save project
build dvd (or whichever format you specified) and save to your relevent storage. You do not have to burn to disc
Note: complex titles will take a while to render, more so than base video
you can now add this file to the start/end of your production.
Hope this helps

Thanks guys, looks like it cannot be done with MF4 - will try VS7 as suggested.
