Hi: I am a Canadian. My parents were Brits but I was born in Canada.
I worked in 1960 in R & D for a very large Finance Company in Canada.
I was doing research with the Friden Tape-Talk machines for Integrated Data Processing.

I was learning how to program tapes for 18 girls. I had my own private office so it wasn't too bad,
as perhaps you have heard how much noise a Flexograph machine makes. When they had several
invoices on the tape, they would wind them around their hands, and then give them to me to send to
the Main Frame. I was in my early thirties then.

I had quit for the previous boss, the Treasurer, in the same company, I had worked a few years for him, and always got the summer off so that I could go to the lake with the kids. They would hire a University girl for the summer.
I was asked several times to go back to work for him, "Name your Salary." I said, "No".

Finally I quit the job with the Flexowriter programming for the summer. Then on the day after Labour Day they called me. Why aren't you in work today? I said I quit when I left last June. They even gave me my Pension money.

I started on the PC in 1996, Netscape 2.02 with Windows 95. All my friends thought I was crazy to spend $4,000.
for a NEC 16mb RAM PC. It was updated from 8mb. They asked what I would do with it?
I said: "I don't know, but I will do something."

I happened to go in a Chat group that had a lot of groups and made posts with pictures and chat. I don't remember what version of PSP I was using at the time, perhaps PSP 3 or 4. I was hooked anyway.

I spent hours on the PC, making Web pages, one page at a time, about nothing. I did the <HTML> by copying from the internet and getting help when something didn't work right, from the group.

My husband had just died in 1991, I was just trying to see if my brain still worked after brain surgery in Dec. 1987.

A kind person transferred my Webpages to Geocities, it was still there until last year.
I still have it and must put it together again, then on some free site someday. I had pictures of my GSdog on it.

I have used Windows 95, 98, XP and now Windows 7 is baffling me. I still don't know how to use it.

I also have CD's from Jasc PSP 7, 9, Corel PSP X, X1,X2, X3, and still baffled. I was doing alright with all versions except Windows 7. I used HTML Kit and scripts with text boxes to make Stationery, which some kind people gave me to use. I even made a couple of scripts, frames and text boxes of my own in a group.
With Windows 7, I can make frames but that's about all.

Hi there, everyone! My name is Olivia and I'm a newbie to the forums. I've been a fan of the Corel company (and an avid user of their products) for quite some time now and thought that it would be neat to talk to other people who were Corel fans as well. While I'm having no real issues with these programs, I'm always up for learning new tips and tricks that could better the program's performance as well as my own.

Either way, I'm super glad to be here amongst such tech-savvy people. I hope to meet everyone here very soon! :)

Hello Corel Users, got an email today saying my account might be deleted since I've not posted, so here's a post. These forums are darn useful, I've just never felt any need to post since with a little search I can usually find what I need. I use Video Suite and PSP2 and the Gif Animator mostly, and have ancient versions of Draw somewhere around.
Cheers Corel, great products and they aren't Adobe!

Hi, I'm Mike Warren. Been evading this introducion for want of time... but here goes. I'm age 68, living on Long Island, New York, USA. I'm single with six grown sons and daughers and 14 beautiful grandkids. Each year I spend 4-5 months alone in India, Thailand, Burma and a few other places, visiting my many adopted sons and daughters who had been abandoned and traumatized and are cruely alone in our cold world. With these poor kids, it takes so little to do so much... like a little love transforms them from poor student to number one in his or her class, or from HIV infected to having a future with more years to live. Things like this keeps you going and makes the trip each year worth it. As for what brings me to your Forum, since I'm in Asia on and off for last 10 years, and have tons of video and stills as a result, I soon realized how I could do much more with all this material. So with your helpful guidence I started video editing small documentaries. In this way I found I could be a voice for today's kids who are unloved, abused, neglected, violated, trafficked, prostituted and killing themselves... I mean a virtual epidemic all around us. I've a poor education and little or no knowledge about filming or video editing, so I just do it... with your helpful directives. Will soon be done with my main project, now 4 years in progress, titled "Lost in Darkness", about the world-wide crisis today's children and youth are facing (2 1/2 hours). On their behalf, a very big thank you for helping this poor father, with all his limitations, reach out to our world's future.

Hi
I am Babdi,56 years old from India. I am Textile Engineer by profession and into supply chain management. I have 28 year old son.
I started dabbling in photography since my son was born. Started with Yashica range finders and graduated to Pentax SLR with loads of lenses :) . I did wedding photography during spare time.
I bought my 1st Sinclair spectrum 64 K computer changed to 128K with micro drives.
I got interested into videography when I wanted to edit the footage shot through a Nokia N93. That is when I espied video studio V11; and here I am with wonderful people helping each other out.

Thank you Ken for that eloquent praise. Thought I should do my bit as a responsible member. The "later joinees" may not know me as much as many of you do. Also I am bogged with work which keeps me away .

Thank you Ken Berry once again

Hi, better late then never I suppose.

My name is Colin Bodger, 53, I'm married with a 12 year old son, live in West London, about 2 miles north of Heathrow Airport and work in the city of London, currently as a project manager, before my current role, all my roles have been technical (currently looking to move back to a technical role).

Anyway - photography/video didn't come first for me, my thing was electrics and electronics, early starter as I was re-wiring houses by the time I was 8. My fathers world revolved around photography, he worked for Technicolor in special effects, so really I put the two together, designed and built the electronic in fathers darkroom, at 17 I designed and build a TV camera then settled down to life at Uni. Where I designed and built a computer (okay a simple computer but it worked!). In the field of Photography, I worked mainly in 35mm mono then Colour before migrating onto video when the first Hi8 cameras came out. After losing my first camera (okay it got nicked), I got another (and still working Canon UC-X2). I used this all over the world on my travels before in the mid 2000's I looked to move up market for a better camera but waited as I wanted one with a view finder (not one of those silly view screens that stick out the side and can't be seen in any bright light), eventually I obtained a Sony VX1000. Bit big for my travel case but I almost used it into the ground then I got mysefl a job in creating videos for marketing, travelling all over the UK and Europe with my growing video kit. Realising that I relly needed to have a portable edit suite, I tried many video editing apps, some good others not. Then I got myself Ulead Video Studio 10. It was just too easy to edit the short clips (marketing videos are not more then 4 minutes I found).

Then in early 2010 I needed to move into HD for work, so went looking and again (possbily due to using an SLR camera for so many years) it had to have a view finder, none of the ones I saw in the shops has this, only a view screen. So after a lot of magaines, shopping and google searches, I eventually found the Panasonic HDC range, finally going for the HDC-TM700. Only to find that VS10 wouldn't see the camera far less edit the footage, so went for X2, this didn't see either my Sony via Firewire or my HD cam over USB !! Now using X3 withs sees and 'edits' my HD footage but doesn't see my sony. So have both 10 and X3 loaded to see both cameras, well I capture on 10 for my sony then edit on X3 along with the HD footage.

Posting a hello as a newbie to the forum.

I am a long time user of Paint Shop Pro and recently adopted Movie Factory as my choice for DVD software (tired of constant issues with Roxio).

I must say (think Martin Short) ... that I am really impressed with Movie Factory. Installed and running without any issue.

First time I can say that about any software.

If the Corel folks browse this forum ... congrats on a great product.

I'm glad to join the family.

Here goes.
Pat Thiele born and raised in Australia up till the age of 24 when I decided on a new carrier path in pre-hospital care. I was captain of one of Queensland's largest Surf Life Saving Clubs, North Burleigh, and worked for the then South East Queensland Electricity board (now Energex). I was working many many long hours voluntary with Queensland Ambulance hoping to get get hired on. When I was not, and the person who was, was stuck under me, I was quite annoyed (Her Daddy was on the board and she needed a job). A fellow medic suggested I head to Nth America where it all happens and you can get training far beyond anything in Australia.
I was able to secure a working permit for Canada for 12 months and proceeded to cross that country working and volunteering at any Ambulance or Fire Company that would allow me. Well they all did cause when you're in dropping off a patient at the ER with a bloke with an Aussie accent and Aussie Ambulance uniform well all the nurses would come out (including the males in some towns).
I decided to go for a drive down the California coast one day and arrived in LA where I ran into a bunch of guys who played Rugby in Huntington Beach. I was going to stay for a week or 2 before heading back to my job in Calgary but after an afternoon of beers at Blackie's bar in Newport Beach watching the thong roller skaters I was staying put. For a little while longer anyway.
Not long after I met my wife (Green Card) Susan who worked for the rodent (Mickey Mouse) in Anaheim. I got a job with a small local telephone PBX company which is where I was introduced to computers. I still remember when the 486DX was released and how fast it was. The other day I found the receipt for my first PC and it was the 486 with 15 inch monitor (upgrade cause every one had only 14's) and 8 meg of RAM (another upgrade as everyone was still at 4) all for $3200. Wow what I could buy now. I taught myself computer hardware and started building PC's for Voice Mail systems to save my company money of pre-built systems. I remember News Groups and bulletin boards which proceeded the internet.
Fast forward to now and I moved to Dallas Texas in 1998 to take a job with NEC as a senior Telecommunications Engineer. Playing with PBX's routers, and all sorts of stuff nowadays.
A few years a go (7 to be exact) my eldest son graduated Pre-School and in the ceremony on a big screen there was a slide show of pictures taken through out the year of the kids all set to music. I was so moved by this I decided I wanted to try this too.
So the first Christmas Aussie Texas DVD was attempted. I started with Pinnicle and was so frustrated with the crashes and other problems I almost gave up then. A friend at work mentioned VS8 by ULEAD that he was using and having a lot of luck with. I found that the current release VS9 was out and got stuck into it.
I have not looked back. My Christmas DVD's are demanded now each year from family and friends across the world. I also put together other projects as thanks to people such as the one I did for the Super Bowl when I was lucky enough to be invited this year.
I really enjoy using VS9, 11.5, X2, X3 and now really love VSX4. Can't wait to try some animation and also try and offer back help to others as I have received and learnt so much from this forum :D

Hi all

First I like to say this board is great, I made a few post so I thought it was time to introduce myself.

First of I’m Dutch and lived in Australia for my schools years. At the age of 22 I decided to explore the world, eventually ended back in Holland and staying for 7 years.

I worked my way up in the fitness industry which lead me on my career path, working as club manager around the world. China, Singapore, Dubai and lastly Thailand where I now live with my wife and daughter.

I was once a world champion Bodybuilder, now I train others to become one.

I recently became interested in making films, and wish to learn as much as I can. Right now you can classify me as a total noob, hell I can’t even take good pictures. I tried a few video editing software and found VSprox4 suited me the best. Now all I need to do is learn the darn thing..lol.

I have my own fitness business and wish to make short health tips video’s for my clients. My first sample is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqfdcjMqkPw
eventually I will use green screen once I figure how to do that. :?

I won’t bore you with a wall of text, I appreciate any help and advice that is given.
