Hi Everyone,

I have been using PaintShop Pro since the 90's when it was still a Jasc Software Shareware program. When they were bought out by Corel, I continued to use PaintShop Pro, and now have recently also started using VideoStudio Pro X3 when I got my upgrade to PaintShop Pro X3. I switched from Pinnacle Studio. Still working through the learning curve on VideoStudio, but liking it so far.

I am an amateur hobby photographer, and I use PaintShop Pro for editing my photos as well as creating web graphics. I use VideoStudio to edit mostly music and motorcycle ride videos. You can see some of the things I have done with they two programs at the following websites:

http://www.propspinner.com/earl
http://www.YouTube.com/user/avidmark4

I'm hoping that this forum can help me with my learning curve on VideoStudio and help me learn some new stuff on PainShop Pro. :)

Regards,
Tebo

Hi - This is my first post. I used to do quite a bit of film photography and a couple of years ago picked up a Panasonic DMC-TZ5. I enjoyed using it and got PSPX2 to use with the images I shot with the Panasonic (great little camera, by the way). I recently bought a Canon EOS Rebel T2i to expand my horizons. I am purely an amateur hobbyist having fun relearning most of what I forgot about the essentials of photography as well as learning the new stuff about digital photography.

Hi, Nothing in particular of question at this moment. Just finished a golf rules video and though the videa portions came out better than I expected, my narration that was dubbed before and after came off sounding a bit "hollow". I camouflaged it a bit with background bird sounds but I'd appreciate knowing what causes this and what I might be able to do about it next time.

Other than that, I'm late 50's, live in Charlotte NC and golf when I don't work. Good life.

How did you record it? With the onboard mic? Camcorder mics are usually not the greatest. You may consider purchasing a mic if you will be doing more of this type of recording.

Good morning All, my name actually is Ted and I'm an amature photographer age 71 who retired from a large Paper company after 27 years as an IT professional. I started using Paint shop Pro back when it was developed by Ulead, I believe that was how it is spelled. I have been editing and creating graphics for Presentations, web sites and editng photos to correct errors from the very begining. I found Paint shop an affordable alternative to the adobe products. there have been other products that I have tried, ACDSee, Photo Elements, Lightroom for windows to mention a few. I have always come back to Paint Shop Pro even after Corel aquired it. I'm not sure that X3 is up to the standard I'm used to from Corel. Altough I purchased X3 I'm not sure I should have, based on my experience so far, so I'm continuing to use X2 in the mean time. Looking forward to the discussion and answers to be found on this Forum.

Hello all. I’m just another newbie who has been using VideoStudio since version 4 and thought I knew all about the methodology but how wrong I was when I invested in DigitalStudio 2010 so as to my real name well it’s Dennis after Dionysus the God of all that’s illegal, immoral and fattening. He later changed his name to Bacchus – sort of out of the frying pan and into the fire. So you have a choice of names for me – if you don’t like Dennis t5hen try OldieHuck or even Old Fogie or from my happening with VS then Big ’ed may be more correct. Whatever - the choice is up to you.
So about me if you can bear it. I’m 77 later this year, have been married to Sue for 35+ years and we live in Basingstoke, UK – that’s the centre of know civilisation southwest (by some 50 miles of London). Currently we live her with a couple of dogs –well one dog and an annoying pup (why OH why did we make that decision) and we have a couple of cats who having mastered our dog are now trying to get accustomed to our new pup – and that’s a real larf. Our two kids are no longer living with us as they have moved out to pastures new to make their own lives – one further west in the UK and the other now emigrated to Norway where he is following the process to become a Norwegian citizen – so what did we do wrong (or was it right) I ask myself??
I started filming and editing way back in the 1950’s when my Mum started playing with an 8mm Bolex cine camera. Having only recently found the films she took I had them digitised and have now editied one on my life in an Essex village in the 1950’s and it makes me realise what a great time it was and how much the youngsters of today are missing out on the real enjoyment of life when families WERE families.
Back in 200 I changed over to video with a good quality Panasonic camcorder and took and edited some great vids of wildlife and local culture round the world. A few years ago I changed to a Panasonic 3CCD camcorder (NVGS400) and the resulting vids were even better in colour etc. The editing I do is to achieve a sort of aide memoire of our time away so there is enough to make our memories work when we look at them again. I am also Big’edded enough to boast about my winning the Wildlife Video of the Year in 2009 in a competition organised by the terrific travel mag Wanderlust. It was about the Birth of a Booby filmed when we were on the Galapagos and it does what the title says. If any reader is foolish enough to want to see it then it’s on my site (OldieeHuck) at YouTube along with some other interesting wildlife sightings
As I said earlier I was thought I fully understood the methodology for VideoStudio but cam a cropper with DS2010 so I was pleased when ProX3 came out to replace my ProX2. In this the editing was excellent but to burn the DVD they introduced DVD Factory2010 (from DS2010) which I find more difficult to understand but will plod on with it till they make it more user friendly (i.e.as it was in ProX2 please). In recent weeks I have been asked by some local new videographers if I could show them my editing methods so I was very willing to help – BUT – they are using the latest camcorders with hard drives and filming in HD/AVCHD whereas I am still using tape and AVI. So have found many difficulties with the editing part alone as even with my high spec PC the scenes “stutter” on the monitor when I am working through them so will have to overcome this first before moving to the DVD Factory bit as they all want their videos in Blue Rae format whereas I am nowhere near that technology so it looks like I will have to catch up. So if any of you videographers out there have any thoughts or guidance to offer me they would be most welcome as would hearing about any mistakes you made in the early days of editing HD video

Well that’s enough BLAH from me so will now finish introducing myself. Sorry can’t include a photo with this as not sure how to do it but maybe later
Have a good life everybody..............Dennis (aka, OldieHuck and many other names)

Welcome to the forums OldieHuck, :)

With VS Pro X3, you should be able to download the free DVD MF7 SE. Corel provided this as a replacement for the terrible Digital Studio 2010, or DVD Factory 2010. DVD Movie Factory 7 SE is much like the burning module of VS X2, and earlier versions. You should also be able to use it, when you get upgraded to HD/AVCHD and Blu Ray. It takes a minimum of 3 days of having VS Pro X3 installed, before the icon/link appears for the download. It is found in the DO MORE tab of the Corel Guide. I strongly recommend downloading and installing it, and forgetting about Digital Studio or DVD Factory 2010.

Hello again Ron P
Have now downloaded MF7 so many thanks for that pointer. However have one small question and not sure if you can advise me ref the best way to progress but here it is anyway
Have found that MF7 will not accept VSP files (from my ProX3 program) so to get it to burn a video from ProX3 I will need to save the edited video as a video file as far as I can reason. Problem is that this takes time to achieve but as I still have ProX2 installed an alternative method for burning could be to save it as a VSP Prox2 file and burn thru that program
My question to you is do you know if both pathways will give me the same result as if I burn (with difficulty) thru DVD Factory on ProX3 or will each of the alternatives lose something in the transfer procedure??
I do of course appreciate that you may not be able to answer this question but whatever, thanks for your original advice anyway
Hope you had a good Easter..................Dennis

Yes, either way will give you the same result. However, first creating a video file and then burning that takes no longer than burning the VSP because the VSP is actually converted to a video file before being burned.

Ah, but those are bank/government holidays. Most of us in the private sector don't get all those days off.
