Welcome to the forums Ken M..:)

Are you an engineer, conductor or ____ for Amtrak? Many, many moons ago, back in the 60's an uncle of mine was a conductor for Santa-Fe's Super Chief. I was only a small child, and when we visited our grandmother who lived near the railroad, we were allowed to go watch for him coming through. He would make sure to stand on a landing outside one of the coaches and wave as he flew by. I don't think he was ever an engineer, just loved being a conductor....

Anyway, I think that as you use VS, you will find it more intuitive. I've used Pinnacle before making the switch to VS a few years ago, and don't miss it at all. There's some features that several of us have tried pushing Corel to adopt, like moving paths. However they have yet to do so. Other suggestions which are listed in our Wishlist for Future Versions of VS forum have been added, albeit one per version.

Look forward to your participation on the forums...:)

I'm neither a conductor nor an engineer, and haven't played either on TV! I spent almost 30 years in "ground" jobs - reservation agent, ticket agent, etc. I was also the trainer for new ticket clerks for many years - I used Corel Draw a LOT for training aids, and could certainly have used some of the features in VS12 back then!

Once I hit 50 I decided the baggage was getting a bit heavy, so I went over to the Operations side, where I am now Director of Operations for the west coast.

I always thought of my Amtrak job as being temporary - I was planning to get a job with Life magazine as a photojournalist, something I was working toward for many years in the '60s and early '70s. Sadly, though, Life folded two weeks after I started my "temporary" job!

Hi, I'm Brent, and I live about 30 mins north of Philadelphia. I'm completely new to making videos, and all I do is capture videos from games that I play (I got a capture card for christmas that came with video studio SE--Easycap). Anyways, I'm 15, and enjoy learning new things about technology.

Hi folks, I'm a newbie in these parts!

The name's Graeme, and I'm from Newcastle upon Tyne (North East UK). I'm 31 and enjoy graphic and website design. I'm heavily involved in the world of speedway (that's motorbikes, faster than Formula 1 racing, 0-60mph in under 3 seconds, no gears, no rear suspension, and no brakes..!)

Some of the websites I've designed and currently manage include www.newcastlespeedway.net www.edinburghspeedway.com www.roryschleinracing.com www.lubostomicek.com and the official site of Sky News TV presenter www.stevedixon.tv

Always had an interest in broadcasting and TV production, just recently bought Corel Video Studio Pro X2 and hoping to use the programme to start producing short "news programmes" to accompany the news stories on the speedway club websites.

I'm one of those people that doesn't like reading instruction manuals, so I'm learning VS Pro "on the fly" as it were. Will probably be back at various intervals to seek help/support from you experts when I hit problems!!

Oh, and as it's Jan 1st, all the best for 2009 !

My name is Lance Danner
Been interested in video cameras for some 28 years most recently as a quality assurance tech performing aceptance testing for a camera manufacturer.
After 5 years of "thinking about it" I finally got into recording and editing on my own about a year ago.
I am working towards a home business of nature videography of the Pacific Northwest. Focusing on Oregon and Washington in the United States. I use the name of my startup "Crafters of Light" Productions for the forums I participate in.
Living in Oregon I think we have some fantastic scenery that others would enjoys seeing. From where I live, just outside of Portland, you can be at the Pacific coast or the cascade mountains in less the 2 hrs of driving so there is plenty of opritunities to get some "work" done.
I just started using VideoStudio Pro X2 and have been having a blast.

Hi All,

My name is Joseph (Joe) Debono from Malta. A small island just below Sicily. I'm 65 years young  and married with 2 children and a grand father of 3 boys. What else ...... ?

I have worked at he Univesity of Malta in the Bioplogy department for 40 years, mainly in marine biology.

My past hobby has been diving and spearfishing which I have prcticed for about 40 yesrs on international scale. I also did some underwater photography but nothing much to write about. My present hobbies are fishing and digital video (movies).

I have been introduced to Ulead Media Studio Pro. 1.1 when I bought my first video capture card, the Matrox Rainbow Runner Studio. I later bought the Matrox Marvel (both these cards are still working in my old machines)

Presently I have 2 PCs going, both with ATI (All-in-Wonder) Radeon 9600XT and Radeon 9800SE. This is the reason why I'm still on P4. Up to now (fingers crossed) they have hardly given me any problems, so I find no solid reason why I should upgrade to a new system.

The general specs. on both PCs are:
P4 3Ghz, 2 Maxtor 120Gb, 2Gb RAM, 2 DVDs (1 Lightscribe) Audigy sound card and ATI capture cards.
I have 1 PC with internet and for general use. While the other is dedicated only for video editing with just the required software.

Software in use:
Ulead Media Srudio Pro 7. (I also have v.8 but I prefre 7)
TMPGEnc 4 Express - not all that much express
VirtualDub
InterVideo WinDVR 3
Nero. Including Vero Vision.
Ulead DVD Workshop 2
Ulead Photo Explorer 8
Ulead PhotoImpact 12
Easy Video to Audio Converter
SolveigMM AVI Trimmer
I have had a look at Corel Video Studio Pro X2 but find it to be rarther limited compared to dedicated applications like Media Studio and DVD Workshop. Good for eye candy though.

Other equipment:
Panasonic G202 Camcorder (analog)
Panasonic NV-DS 28 Camcorder (digital)
Panasonic Video Mixer WJ-AVE 5 (Digital) (hardly ever used it). Ideal for copying protected video tapes to be transfared to DVD media.

Well that's about all I have to say. I hope to be of some help to this forum.

Cheers

Welcome to the forums,

Well, well we have another expert on hand..:) You certainly do have experience with Ulead products. Don't hesitate to post questions, and by all means if you know of a solution, or have an idea on how to help others, jump right in, (something you're used to doing when water is around) :)

We look forward to your participation, and again welcome to the forums..

Hi all is about time I introduced myself to this forum my name is Ralph Perez and I am originally from Cuba and migrated with my parents to the USA in 1957. Served in the USA Navy aboard 3 different carriers during the Nam era and retired form the Federal Government in a civilian status in 2005 and enjoying it.

Reside in the Motown area or should say in the broke state of Michigan and guess that the rumor around here is that GM is not called General Motors anymore but Government Motors, joking, have 2 daughters age 36 and 23 from the same marriage, dumb on my part to have them so far apart but that¡¦s life.

Major in Computer programming while in College and after 2 years in it decided to change my major to Management with a major in accounting and minor in Data processing. Enjoy listening to the 50¡¦s-70¡¦s oldies music and bought my first camcorder in 1968 a Bell & Howell and back then was unable to edit, recently had a Canon HV30 HDDVD cam until it belly up and bought a new cam a Canon HF20 a flash memory cam as of today and hoping that Video Studio Pro X2 is able to capture from my Flash camcorder, will find out tomorrow.

My most up to date PC is a Gateway DX4200-09 with Vista 64 bit with a quad-core.

Well enough said about me, I am a newbie on this forum and hopefully within a year or so will be helping out the newcomers on the Forum and in the meantime will be asking stupid questions to the hard core members of this forum while I learn the ropes of the editing software, if the need be.

That¡¦s all folks.
Ralph

Welcome to the forums Ralph, :)

Glad to have you on board, and look forward to your participation.

Yep, GMC which I own one, is now Gimme More Cash .. I think that those that drove any of these corporations into the ground should be prosecuted, however the flip side of the coin is that the politicians provided for what they done, and in some cases promoted and endorsed it. The CEOs just took advantage of a golden opportunity. Remember the old American Motors? When I was quite young we owned one, the AMC Rambler Station Wagon. It was the first car we had that had air-conditioning. Too bad there wasn't a bail-out for them, or the Studebaker. They couldn't make it so they were allowed to fail.

Oops better quit now, or else I could go on for pages on this.. :o Again welcome to the forums..

I joined because I own several Corel programs (VideoStudio Pro X2, Painter X, & a few old KPT plugins) and more to the point, I didn't know there was a Corel user forum until last weekend! Don't know how I missed it until now, but stumbled onto it via a link from a blog. So the forum has already answered one query for me :D

Hello Y'all

Post by voodeux »

I thought I was already a member of this forum but perhaps my lack of postings has caused this need for a re-boot. In either case. I'm a professional videographer with 21 years of experience including stints at ABC News, USA Networks, SportsChannel NY and more recently, corporate and event videos. I started my own company in 2001 after working for other studios way to long. It's a daily challenge, but one I wouldn't give up for anything else. Thank you for everyone who shares in their valuable time and wisdom on this (and other) forums.
